Took my weapons to an enchanter (the first that you come across to avoid any spoiler) and they wouldn't touch any of them, said I had no weapons to enchant. Perhaps I'm missing something...

Did you take normal weapons, or ones that already have some kind of power? I was able to get a weapon enchanted at my first attempt - I think it was just a longsword. Maybe the material has something to do with it.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers!!!!

I've just recieved my copy and it's installing now, after watching the trailer online I have to say that this is the most excited I've been about an RPG since Fallout 3. Just wish I'd had the foresight to book the next couple of days off work (as someone else has done for Modern Warfare 2)

It was a normal dagger or sword if I recall. I'll have to check again when I get out of my current quest.

Well, I finally got this installed and running after 2 hours of fiddling, just as an FYI to anyone struggling with the DLC freebies if you're on Vista make sure you run as the Administrator. It's annoying because you have to do it each time to keep the same save game files but hey ho...


I have to say I'm hooked so far, went City Elf Female Rogue and had a great time balancing the morals of a happy go lucky person, who stood up for what felt right at the time. I actually agonised over whether or not to take the gold and run but it was decided for me when he said he'd keep the women I actually played for 8 hours before I realised it was very nearly 3am!!

I think I've put in over 30 hours now and I've barely scratched the surface of it (though I have finally levelled up far enough to use the Red Dragon armour). I'm going to take a quick break now to run through MW2 and then back to the Dragon Age loveliness.

I've not gotten that far yet, I got the dreaded restart syndrome that I sometimes get with RPGs... finally settled on a dual wielding elven rogue for my first play through. Does loads of damage already and has tonnes of cash (robbed everyone blind). He's level 8 and he's got a grandmaster enchantment in his main hand weapon already hee hee hee

I've only come across one socketted weapon so far, need some more so I can make a darkspawn specific set. Found some nice +6 vs darkspawn runes

Also, anyone who has the soliders peak DLC... the wardens armor is very nice for the rogue (maybe it changes according to what class you play?). Mine has a load of backstab and armour penetration bonuses. Definitely worth an early visit.

Gotta be one of the best value for money games on the market atm. Certainly compares with the playtime on Oblivion or Fallout 3.


Out of interest, how many people have restarted? I finally decided to move from my elven rogue and try a Human Warrior, though atm not 100% sure which I prefer or whether I need to restart again because the elven rogue start was *fun* but I didn't get the character progression.

Very impressive graphics engine (both in detail and performance), but I feel the gameplay is too interrupted with cutscenes for my taste :S
More so than Mass Effect and The Witcher which I bought and played a while ago (and thoroughly enjoyed).

Overall I'd say "good, but not great".

Having not palyed any of the games mentioned in relation to this, i.e. Baldurs Gate and The Witcher, or Mass Effect, I think this should be a good buy for me.

I know, my games history is a bit poor.

I'm level 11 mage and finally was offered some enchantments. It gets a little easier the more advanced your character becomes. I'm taking a break, playing through the pretty awful PC port of MW2. Looking forward to getting back to Dragon Age.

Friend's buying me this for my birthday next week, can't wait. Though, I have L4D2 preordered and preloaded which comes out a few days before my birthday, so both games will be battling for my attention!
