42hours in. 28% completed. 44% of the world explored.

Stunning story and while there is annoyances overall can't be beaten.

It feels very dumbed down compared to the D&D rules and the NWN games. Having to leave so many chests behind as I can't even bash them open just nags at me.

Does anyone else find the last boss too easy?

I've prepared over 100 potent health/ greater lyrium pots as I expected that the boss would hit hard but for some reason, my mage allies took him down without too much trouble with my party running around all over the place.

    Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I just completed the main story, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I did however save the game at a stage which will allow me to go back and potentially change the ending, so I think I'll take a look at that

*sigh* sounds like I'll never get through more than about 20% then, I'm a chronic restarter with RPGs. I must have played the Tutorial level of Neverwinter Nights (the original, that is) about 50 times - I've completed the campaign... erm... twice

Oooh, that sounds annoying - is that just down to character / class choice? Can't stand unopened chests - can't count the number of times I've multiclassed rogue just so I can open all the chests...

    Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Only way that I know to open chests is to have a rogue class with the pick lock skill. I'm a two handed norse warrior meets Gatsu (berserk manga) type dude

There has been nothing important in any chests I've opened yet, few pots and vendor loot mainly.

I would have been a tiny bit happier with more complex settings like being able to see the numbers and rolls. Again you can see the damage you inflict but not to hit rolls etc.

    Personal preference. *shrug*

    Picky, picky, picky

From what I've gathered there is nothing of real importance in the chests, but if you do need to unlock them at a later stage, they are all accessible or so I believe.

The rules set isn't really all that dissimilar to D&D, so much so I'll be surprised if the pen & paper version doesn't use some form of the D20 system.

As for chests, I too find it annoying not being able to get all of them open, despite going back to my rogue main (well restarted her so I could fix the poor level choices I made)

    Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Anyone got an opinion on which is the best of the 3 versions: PC, xbox or ps3?

Just looking for a nod in the direction of the system I should get this for. Couldn't pass up a Bioware RPG after NWN.

Yeah, the PC is the version to go for - quite a few of the reviews are saying the same thing.

66ish hours through and I've finished it! And I only missed out on a few very minor side quests.

Amazing game, though I think I'll wait a few weeks before trying again with a new character.

    Re: Dragon Age: Origins

My mage is now dominating now he's levelled nicely. Nothing seems to touch me and to think I almost canned him and started with a different class. I'm taking my time, currently sorting out the dwarves and glad I picked this up now.

    Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I've just finished it as a human tank, gotta say I'm impressed. Very theatrical, not too much, not too little.

Damn that Morrigan, spent the first 15 levels getting her to even acknowledge my existence and she goes and does that . . .

Does what...? I found the Morrigan ending pretty satisfactory. Maybe it's just the way I played out the story.
