    Re: Minecraft?

I used the AT launcher, latest version RR with recomended but I get an error trying to join, missing "charlotteUtilities : 0.3.0"

latest version of rr 2.8.3.8-rr-main includes charlotteUtilities 0.5.0B

EDIT: OK this is really weird, I manually removed charlotteUtilities 0.5.0b and added in charlotteUtilities 0.3.0 and I'm on . . .
but according to the server I'm the only person on, but there are other people talking in chat . . .

    edit2:

    see I'm not dreaming

Edit3: ahh it's a server side mod, connects you to a sort of global RR chat

Wouldn't mind checking this one out? Are the details the same as the last server, or have you whitelisted it? Actually, I'll PM you!

    Re: Minecraft?

Had a quick look in single player before jumping on the server, got a couple of questions:

As above, Pob is seeing lots of chat, any idea how to stop it from showing up? Sometimes I just want peace...

I have not yet found any normal cobblestone, thanks to a mod called underground biomes. Despite all of the new cobblestones being ore dictionaried (I think I just made up a word?), Tinker's Construct doesn't recognise the new cobblestones. Any ideas on this, or should I just hunt around for some normal stone to mine?

Is anyone working together on this server? I normally prefer to start alone, and when I get nicely sufficient for power and a good supply of items, I'd be willing to contribute to a bigger project. Any plans, or are we just playing for fun?

    Re: Minecraft?

Figured out the Cobblestone problem. Take your Dacite Cobblestone (or whatever you have mined up, I see Dacite everywhere), fill a 3x3 crafting grid with it to create Compressed Cobblestone and then "uncompress" it back to normal Cobblestone, which Tinker's accepts.

:edit: Bagnaj, IRC chat is back... :S

I think it has to be removed server side, but there might be a client side way to hide.
I think turning it off was the most asked question while I was on last night.
Is anyone working together on this server? I normally prefer to start alone, and when I get nicely sufficient for power and a good supply of items, I'd be willing to contribute to a bigger project. Any plans, or are we just playing for fun?
I've only just started last night and I died a LOT, luckily this mod has grave stones*
So atm I'm just getting set up, not far from the spawn in the side of a hill, once I've got some stuff setup I think I'll be looking into Blood magic first and maybe thaumcraft (although a lot has been added and changed in this new version.)
That took me a while to remember too and cost me a few deaths*
However not all this odd stone can be compressed, if the stone mines as a cobblestone version is can, if it mines as the stone it cannot.
Ones it doesn't work on I've found so far; Limestone, Shale, Chalk, Chert

*One massive word of warning BEWARE DEFAULT STONE, before I remembered about the compression trick I was overjoyed when I found a patch of default stone, it's a TRAP, it was actually a load of silverfish who caught me by surprise and knocked me into lava, which lead me to another 5 deaths trying to get my stuff back, luckily gave stones are not destroyed by lava, including a skeleton knocking me into the lava again as I tried to break my original grave.
Graves are a bit deceptive, don't try to break the stone itself but the slab it ontop of the block it's on (which may be invisible)

EDIT: just checked the mod's page, there's 8 Igneous and 8 metamorphic rocks that do turn into cobble and 8 sedimentary that don't, so now there's 8 type of rock that have utterly no use other than looking different

    Re: Minecraft?

Request for Bagnaj, Can you adjust the rate at which tainted land spreads? I've not found any yet but I know it can be a major issue, is it possible to slow it right down in case we do find any?

Oh yeah, hate that stuff. Haven't yet got into any of the magic mods in this pack, know all of the tech ones, but want to learn about Thaumcraft and the like.

Default setting is 1 in 200 chance of taint spreading on a block update. I've changed it to 1 in 2000. You can disable taint spreading by setting the latter number to 0, but where's the fun in that

    Re: Minecraft?

    Some useful resonant rise stuff
    Ore depths
    http://www.resonant-rise.com/topic/1...-depth-charts/

Here's a list of all the metals and alloys in RR
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...ext=true#gid=0
Note this doesn't show how to make the alloys, you'll have to experiment
Be warned, don't just throw a bunch of different ore into your tinkers construct smelter unless you want some odd alloys.

EDIT: I've not tested this yet however it should work
To get rid of the IRC chat, in the AT launcher select your RR instance and "edit mods" find the EiraIRC mod and disable it, it'll still be on on the server but that should get it off the your client

EDIT2: Don't think that work, cannot disable or remove the EiraIRC mod
EDIT3: actually you can do it that way, but might have to manually remove it

    Re: Minecraft?

Tried Thaumcraft today, have never used it before. So hard to find correct information about the right version we have on this pack (4.1).

Anyway, was going well until I tried researching. As you can see from the below screenshot, all the aspects are lit up and connected, but I am not getting a Discovery scroll. Anyone have any idea why?

    Re: Minecraft?

My flatmate actually got an answer to this, the symbols actually didn't match, despite lighting up. The websites I was reading were wrong, and 4.1.something made even more changes. Right now I am not too bothered by this, I am gonna skip Thaumcraft until I start again and then maybe start with it, even if it's just to get the Boots of the Traveller!

    Re: Minecraft?

I've not gone down the thaumcraft root yet as it's changed quite a bit and has got a lot more complex.

Only suggestions I can make atm is keep scanning stuff, every time you find a new aspect, scan stuff again because thigs you couldn't scan before you might be able to now.
Also try combining known aspects in the research table (the bit in the bottom left corner) to unlock new ones.
AFAIK you really need to unlock all the aspects before you can get very far in thaumcraft.

    Re: Minecraft?

Thaumcraft seems to have some cool stuff for early game, but seems to crazily complex, especially when all the online documentation is out of date.
