Re: Minecraft?

Something very strange, and extremely annoying, just happened. I was trapped in a small cave by some water and a creeper blew me to pieces. Fair enough, just run back and get my gear. Got back in about 30 seconds, collected all my stuff from the surrounding area and I was missing a few (very expensive) items. I had lost my diamond shovel and a jet pack.

Now I don't usually play on hardcore, or with mobGriefing on, but is it possible that when you are blown up by a creeper that it can destroy items you are carrying? If so, I think that will be a deal breaker for me. I don't even have the mats right now to make a new jet pack and being forced to go backwards in my progression is a bit lame.

I'm pretty sure that creepers don't blow items up when they blow you up :/

As far as I'm aware, creeper explosions can destroy blocks, but not carried items. I have now installed the CreeperCollateral mod though - creeper (actually all explosion) damage to players is unaffected and they still make holes in the ground/walls, but they no longer destroy items, everything drops as an entity so it can be picked up and replaced. I've put the extra mods in a zipfile if anyone's having trouble connecting - the URL is in the server's MOTD.

Obviously if a creeper kills you and all your stuff drops in lava it'll be gone, and if a hole is blown in your house you'll have to repair it (as the blocks will have all dropped)! Creepers (and other mobs) need some risk though, otherwise you may as well play creative.

Re: Minecraft?

Bagnaj, I've had an issue with mystcraft, unless there is something different about this version, I cannot make linking books or unlinked books.
AFAIK you stick a normal book into a crafting table to make an unlinked book, to make a book to a new world you put some leather into a book binder to make a random world or leather and pages into it to customise the world you want to make.
Nether work and too many items is not showing any crafting recipes, could it be turned off on the server?

Re: Minecraft?

Disturbedguy and I spent hours strip mining on Saturday and slowly putting a base together, there are now mines rivaling Moria under the big house. We built some kind of Rube Goldberg automated machine of pipes, treefarm and coke ovens producing more wood than we can ever possibly use and vast quantities of charcoal.

I made an enchanting table and started enchanting books; the 3rd one I did was fortune II - score! Yet more mining on Sunday, enchanted pick in hand for diamonds. Raided Allen's ingot chest and put his blast furnace into extensive use for masses of steel. Industrial electrolyzer and industrial blast furnace complete, assembly table and a couple of lasers as well.

And the goal of all this machinery? A quarry! A small test quarry ran under the house last night, but I don't want to do too much quarrying until I've got an ME network with enough storage to hold everything (sans cobble/dirt/gravel). Next mission is an ME network with a decent amount of storage and a pair of tesseracts, then I'll quarry out a hollow hill in the Twilight Forest...

Oh and Pob255, I had a look at the Moonquest config and the Mystcraft config looks correct, everything's set to enabled. I'll try and remember to upgrade the server to the latest release tonight and see if it helps, but I don't have much hope though as Mystcraft hasn't been updated according to the changelogs. If you make a singleplayer creative world just to test in, does all the Mystcraft stuff work?

Re: Minecraft?

Ahh you're all on ftb that explains why it's just the two of us, feeling a bit lonely on moonquest

I do love the tinkers construct stuff, although I found an annoying bug, if you cast blocks of aluminium with the smelter, it make the wrong type of aluminium, which means when you break the block down you get 9 raw aluminium, which is pretty much useless and you cannot turn it back.
I found this out when I broke down 24 blocks in a crafting bench, so instead of 216 useful bars I had 216 useless things
You have to cast it into bars, which can take a while with the amounts you need.

I'll give the mystcraft stuff a try on single player and get back to you.

^This was much fun learning GregTech and stuff.

Came on yesterday before you were on, went mining, had 4 diamonds, lots of iron, silver, tin, copper and then died, got back to the stuff, collected it, on way out, died again. Went back, pretty much everything had gone

Re: Minecraft?

I made a scoop, found some bees and then spent the next 4 hours getting shot into dimensional doors, finding blocks of diamond surrounded by booby traps, falling through limbo and repeating.

Re: Minecraft?

I found a (very) slight incompatibility between Gregtech and Gravisuite so I tweaked a config file. The change was wrench-related and that error mentions wrenches so I expect that's the cause. Try again in a few mins after I've put things back as they were.

Ok tested it in single player, it all work bar one slight problem, I cannot make an unlinked linking book, which should be just a book in a crafting table, I can spawn them in in creative and they work, but without a linking book there is no way back from a created age, which mean mystcraft fairly pointless and suicidal.

You no longer create the book that way, it's now a piece of leather and some sort of blank page. Does NEI not show the right pattern for you?

Re: Minecraft?

That's a normal book, 1 leather and 3 paper

well the official mystcraft wiki says
Linking books are crafted simply by putting a lone book in a crafting grid.
http://binarymage.com/wiki/doku.php?...g&s[]=book

Or you could mean a Descriptive Book, which are the ones you use to link to other ages, they are made with special pages and leather in a book binder.
But you need an Unlinked Linking book, which you link to your current world to get back again.

They are very useful in moon quest as the moon counts as an age, so you can use link books to get back

EDIT: ahh I found it, the wiki is out of date link page and leather but not in a book binder

EDIT: Tested and working
