Ted, Esh and Veew have too much free time. Have you been on recently and had a look at the Bromance Mountain complex? It's not only massive it has automated cane and mushroom harvesting, underwater mines, treehouses, lighthouses and god knows what else!

Another new feature just added to 1.8: Vines. These look awesome for decorating/camoflaging
Pic here. It's big so I've not embedded it.

Says the man who built an enormous castle and railway system

Those vines look pretty good, can't wait for 1.8 now.

If our overlord is still reading/playing, I wonder if we'd be able to get a copy of our 1.7.3 map before everything is nuked? Or (a bit of a longshot) is there any way of running both a 1.7.3 server and a 1.8 sever?

If it's a case of paying, I'm more than happy to contribute to the running costs.

    Lol, I wouldn't say overlord...

But yes, I read the thread every day in case someone wants something, I also get PM's emailed to my phone in case of urgent requests (as long as I can get to a PC ).

However, I have quite a few other games I am into at the moment and just don't have time to play MC at the moment, although I am loving the 1.8 updates and will defo put more time in then.

As for a copy of the world, I think I mentioned it before, I can do that if you want, no probs. I know that you can run two worlds at the same time on one server so as long as the current map will run under 1.8 even if some of the new stuff will be missing, I can run the old map as another world. I will just need to figure out a way you guys can port between the two and hopefully even communicate between the two. I will look into it.

    Re: Minecraft?

Oh, I could also look at somehow moving the castle and/or other buildings from the old map to a newly generated 1.8 one using MCEdit, should be possible.

    Re: Minecraft?

I'm all for a total wipe and restart when 1.8 comes, well move the current world some place else so it's still availible if someone wants a copy.

When you first start out with nothing and don't have chests and chests of stuff is one of the most fun parts for me.
I'd also like a time rebalance, make the day a bit shorter and night a bit longer. (when 1.8 comes out and we start a new world)
The whole I ether stay here, huddled in a hole in a wall until the sun comes up or risk the monsters that makes it strangely fun esp in the beginning of the game, it's only later once you start trying to build epic constructions that the day/night cycle becomes annoying.

    Re: Minecraft?

Just fully backed up the server in preparations. I did see this though:

Jeb recently mentioned that 1.8 will most likely not be released on September 8th, to allow time for more thorough testing and quality assurance. Still, there seems to be a careful optimism regarding the release date - while it may not be on the 8th, it will still likely be in the near future.
Someone PM me when it's released in case I miss it.
