I just started my management training at a well known pet store, and from what ive seen and experienced so far, it seems Rats would make a very good pet. They are social, playful and live a comparitively long time. Degus as previously mentioned are also fun and can be trainined over time to be fully tame. Chipmunks are also fun, but again take a long time to get tame enough so that they wouldnt just run off if let out of their cage.

Personally I keep fish, mostly marine (saltwater) fish as well as corals and inverterbrae. I find it absolutely fascinating as there is always something new around and you can build your tank and its stocking to your taste...

My tank last time I took a picture, has changed a little since then though..

Please tell me you've built a second skin for the fish and you've filled the central section with oil and it's now a PC

You can get rats in all colours now. Set up depends on how big a cage you go for tbh. Some fantastic luxury style ones out there ! Running costs , very cheap , food, bedding, toys , none are that expensive.

or you could get a gerbil from the petting zoo
if Richard Gere can then you can too....

and to finish that thought, search for Gerbil and Stephen Lynch on YouTube (its a comedy song, but i wouldnt search at work)

can't believe it took us 5 pages to turn an innocent thread about pets into some sordid and thoroughly nasty and perverted subject.

    Re: Small Pet!

I've got two cornsnakes (they were my brothers, but when he moved out he left them for me - the G**) They're about 4 years old now. They're not a pet for anyone who is worried they'll escape or is afraid to handle them (I'll handle them, but only if I have to...).
They get fed Mice once a week and you need to clean the tank out about once a month (so fairly low maintanence).
I've been bitten once (felt like a papercut or being stuck with a staple, not painful as such).

I'm going to have to sell them I think (I didn't want them in the first place and would rather have fish instead).

    Re: Small Pet!

When a post makes a new page then gets deleted it seems to keep the page number in the list.

By posting to say it was broken you created a post on the 6th page and fixed it.

Female ratties are the most intelligent, friendly and inquisitive pets you're vere likely to meet You have to keep rats in pairs, else they get lonely and bored!
