I'd say stick it until Thursday, it's not worth losing your pay, at least get that out of them if they're being arsey with you.
It would probably be wise to keep a copy of your chat-logs somewhere, just in case they try anything on.

1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!!!
Kudos for getting out of there though...
Sounds like a completely crappy place to work. Rico seems like a right twonk. He also sounds like he knows something.
Stick it till thursday then walk with your head high. See if you can arrange some interviews on friday if that day is now going to be free.
Agreed, "you have abused the trust I showed in you." sounds to me like someone who wants you to shut up and not let the other staff know you've been treated badly.
If you're not after a reference (which it doesn't sound like you'll get anyway) I would let people know after you've left, how you've been treated. Maybe an e-mail detailing everything to Rico's boss?

Remember they CANNOT give you a bad reference - you can have them for Slander/Libel (can't ever remember which one is which).
The worst they can do is decline to give one.
You know, all through this I've been wondering, what's the other side of the story that we've not been getting.
Now I think the penny's finally dropped.
You've been talking to this about other people in your company via Skype haven't you? I'm betting they've dropped you in it good and proper!

This is bunny and friends. He is fed up waiting for everyone to help him out, and decided to help himself instead!
Ergo - he's still better to leave before he's pushed.
Whcih was the situation I was put in last year.
well i can only be has honest as i can and tell you guys how i see it. im not perfect, there have been times that i been to lazy to do some work at certain days but dont we all have days like this. i am just shocked with how they gone about treating me and it was evident today as soon as i showed them my notice last friday.
anyways here is the final convo i had with rico.
was he being rude to me? have i been rude to him in that convo at all? please note that i have only been working there for 11months so maybe he is correct about my annual leave but is that a reason to respond like that?[11:44:55] me- says: So its not possible to get that £65 back that was wrongfuly deducted from my salary
[11:48:01] me- says: Also that time that around 5 people where off sick i was working that day. And also the people who was sick got paid properly.
[11:48:28] Rico says: no, it has been deducted as was everyone else. And please remove skype. If you need to speak with others on work related matters then just go to their desk.
[11:48:50] Rico says: They all provided doc notes
[11:49:59] me- says: i see. but in our contracts it states that after 3 days of sick leave you have to provide a doctors note. i wasnt informed that just 1 day you need a doctors note
[11:51:13] me- says: Also one more question. i have around 15 days of anual leave left, aint im suppose to get paid for that before i leave?
[11:51:49] Rico says: it is the first month of the year. so where is 15 days from?
[11:52:47] me- says: at the begining of the year i have a total of 18 days for anual leave, and i only took galf day so in fact i have 17.5 days of aunal if im not mistaken?
[11:53:02] me- says: half*
[11:58:55] Rico says: ALL companies work on a holiday accrual basis, ie you get 1.6 days per month. Its is goodwill that allows a staff member to take a week etc before they have accrued it. The day you leave, that right is forefitted. There is definately no 17.5 days holiday. If this was next December, you would have the holiday entitlement. PLEASE STOP skyping me. If you don't like it, collect your stuff and leave now. as you have wasted half the morning skyping everyone else saying how hard done by you are and me. This is the last comms from me on this. Either put up with the situaltion and finish the job you have to do. Are the games ready.... no. Then please with respect. Carry on. or go. as you are not doing me any favours here.
after that i left.........
Basically, yes. You were told to stop using Skype and to ask questions in person if required. You ignored that and continued. That's rude in my book.
As a coder myself, the last thing I'd want is to be pestered with messages whilst trying to work; email is sufficient and doesn't break my train of thought. There's a time and place for those utilities and it's generally accepted that whilst you're being paid to work, you work.
yea paul is correct in a way but it still doesnt justify them being an ass in the first place. i can see why you kept skyping them though, they never gave you a solid good reason about your pay deduction but imagine things being alot different if you diddnt hand in a notice though
its best that you went, the company are acting like muppets by the sound of things
Unfortunately, whilst your boss Rico obviously has Skype installed as well, it does sound like they'll find grounds to dismiss you without leave if you don't knuckledown. My advice if you want any hope of getting a reference you can use (which can sometimes be vital!), is to just get on with your job professionally. Do whatever is asked for you and once you've left THEN start fighting them for things like the sick day that was deducted aparently unlawfully. Once you've handed in your notice is NOT a time to get into arguements with your manager but I think it's too late for you anyway.

i think the guy has mentioned that he has walked out on them so i assume he can fight with them
some good news. not only did my previous company that i worked for payed me today but they payed me in FULL. i was surprised that they did as they told me that if i dont work till thursday i wont be getting paid in full for january. And also that can forget about the deduction for my sick leave.
i also have a couple of interviews lined up next week as well as having a positive interview i attended on tuesday which went decent and realy enjoyed the interview as we was laughing and joking around nearly half the time of the interview.
what a difference 1 year experience makes! this time last year i was strugling to get an interview. now im haing at an average of 1-2 interviews each week!
in the best case scenario, say if i do get accepted in more then one job and one is offering slightly less salary, is it possible for me to negotiate with that company and ask for equal or slightly more then the otehr company offering?
1 year experience makes a lot of difference... I found that.
Be careful when negotiating... if you've only got one year, then you can probably be easily replaced if you push your luck. My company matched what I was being paid when I had two offers on the table in November, the other company then offered more. BUT please remember that it's not all about the money, as you've already found out. It's about job satisfaction and enjoying what you do.
You've got to be careful playing the whole company negociation thing.
Many simply won't play ball.
The company i worked for previously offered to match my offer, and where quite forthright in telling me i wasn't going to leave. The new firm simply said "we've made you an offer" there was no way they where going to enter a bidding war, they knew if i had stayed at old place, my bonus would of just been nullified, new place knows i want the oppertunity they offer.
Really does depend, not only on the ethos of the company (my current one is worth taking a basic pay cut to goto) and the personaility of the people (old dep. head of trading for instance, thought that i wasn't really going to leave).
What i'm getting at is theres no point burning bridges, and making enemies. Push for what you want upfront.

Hi i finaly managed to land a job but the pay is 4k below my asking price. originaly the guy said that my proposed salary was fine for a person with 1 year exp. i have popped in an email to the guy asking if its possible if i can start close to my proposed asking price.
is this ok? is the company just seeing how desperate i am to land a job? if it was my company i probably would of offered the same for a person in my position. i mean if i can persuade someone to work abit cheaper then what they are deserved then why not? after all its me who's paying there wages right?
But the interesting part is that the guy said my proposed starting salary was fine so why make it lower? ummm
