Re: Who is out of work?

My cousin was out of a job for over a year but recently found one. good lad and he really looked down and out whenever i saw him.

All i can say is that i feel for you guys who are jobless but i know someone who is in benifits since he left uni and doesnt want to find a new job because of it !

I always tell him this "So some of my Tax i pay goes towards you sitting at home playing WOW all day?"

I knew some Dentists back in Australia that registered for unemployment benefits just before graduation just in case they couldn't find jobs. I was stunned...for so many reasons.

As a WoW player it's sad how many regulars are jobless and don't really do anything about it, besides moan. What's worse is the number that are proud to be leeching from the welfare system that pays them to play WoW all day long. I want to reach through the monitor and throttle them.

I don't mean to slap everyone with the same brush but there's been a lot of jobless "chatter" on the Hexus boards of late and I have to wonder if some of it is self inflicted. I saw a lot of permanent employees being shown the door at the last investment bank I worked for. Many of them had worked for the company for over 10 years. They blamed everything and everyone except themselves. Every single one of them deserved to be booted for various reasons. Some of them should have been fired a long time ago and they should be tankful they were employed that long, not that they would ever see it that way.

For those graduating university and looking for work it's a pretty bad time to try and start a career, even the "do you want fries with that?" market has dried up.

It's that bad I was pretty much told by a recruitment company today that I was too qualified and they don't have anything to suit my jobset (despite saying for temp work I'd do pretty much anything that was around the office work area)

Perfect example of living under a feckless labour government for you. Lets hope the welfare cuts that are coming soon get some of these people off their arses (wishful thinking)

Unfortunately recruitment agents are often narrow minded and block headed. My wife had to severely dumb down her CV to get another offer quickly after her first UK contract got messed up many years ago. She left after the first 3 months because the person she was working for was scared that she was doing her job too well and felt threatened. I encouraged her to not renew because it was embarrassing for her to have to pretend to be a moron every day at work. There's plenty of agents around and varying your CV for the role sometimes means making yourself appear less qualified. Sad, but that's how the silly agents work.

And how does being over qualified for graduate positions work out then because I did a place in industry?

It's stupid I'm either overqualified for a lot of the work, underqualified or because I don't have 1 minor skill they are looking for I'm not suitable

Re: Who is out of work?

I plan on getting job once i finish college (24th June) but as I've been looking now It doesn't appear that there is work out there - I've checked various job websites etc and I've been told the best way is to just drop a CV in somewhere, It just feels like mine will be a bit barren as I've not worked before and so puts me off the idea, bit of a vicious circle IMO.

    Any pointers would be appreciated!
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    hmm

I find that my boss sends us all over the country and does't pay our travel time. I have a 11 hour round trip to do and I won't get a peny extra, he also expects us to work 1 day extra a week for free. Annoying.

This is something I must admit I find very frustrating. I'm quite hard to place in a job in so many ways, yet I've never had problems finding work, just some of them are a bit un-glamorous. My sister on the other hand despite having a better degree than I has never had a job, not even a paper round. It is entirely her fault, her outlook is wrong, and she probably 'could cope' with the stress of half the things I do. I honestly dispare, if she was forced to starve instead, then she'd get off her arse and stop feeling sorry for herself, as it stands I doubt she will ever have a job. At least she doesn't have any kids thou.
