Thread: My Ant Farm (Nature at work) *56k warning*

    The instructions actually mention that you should put a couple of drops of water in every few days when it gets really hot. I think I will add a bit of sugar to send them off their nut.

    Wow just had a look and tunnel production has increased, they are packed down the four I made now eating away

    Could one of the larvae not be a queen?
    maybe, some ants just arn't moving away from the larvae, maybe they are protecting them because they know one is a queen.

    Try a little worm or catterpilla or a spider!! That is great to watch them fight!!
    BTW: What type of ants are they?? And: Can you take the farm apart? i.e to clean it and possibly refill with other stuff....???

    Nah you cant take the farm apart, so once its finished that is it. I guess you could still keep it. It would look cool I guess. The ants are yellow harvester ants. The ants would all gang up on the spider, trust me I have seen it before.

    Yeah that's what I meant, more interesting than seeds or jam (messy, but they love it) and you can see them do somthing...

    Shame it don't come apart...

    when it starts to get really interesting what about setting up a webcam so us hexus folks can watching the 'boyz' develope their civilization? we can just sit there and watch them!

    itll be cool if they start turning the gel into a sculpture of you

    That's so cool! I'm gonna have to get me one o' those now!

    Setting up a webcam would be a great idea if you have one.

    Oh, and don't sacrafice any poor spiders or anything - that's not nice tbh .

    hehe okay gonna setup a live webcam for you lot, I was gonna buy a webcam anyway so might as well put it to some good use. I will pick one up tomorrow and set it up.
