Well my tunnels have grown but I think that could be because of my cover and that I keep rotating it.

I do seem to have a lot of dead ants though. There are at least 3 or 4 in the tunnels that they do not seem to remove and there are 3 on the top although I'm not sure if one of those is just sleeping. I thought they were supposed to carry the dead out! I think they don't see it as their home though. Not even sure they all eat the gel which may be why they keep dying.

There is little to no downward digging either. Maybe I should ifnd some larvae.

Looks like most of my larvae have actually hatched, there is a blob of what looks like the casing of the baby ants on the surface, I will take a picture tomorrow and post it up.

Dont forget still that these things can last months and months so they may not start digging towards to bottom for some time.

Or possibly.....it could be the fact that, they seen what happened to there "friends/family/ant lovers" That they decided to get there arse's into gear so the same does not happen to them. Poor poor ants. Scared out of there wits!

    Update

Work seems to have some to a standstill.

My ants seem to be in a panic state. They are all running round trying to get out continually. If I turn it they all rush to the side of the light.

If I put my lid on it then loads go down the tunnels and overcroud and ants get crushed. No work can be done in the tunnels then as its too crouded.

There are a few dead ants that have been crushed now. Including 3 in 1 area that have been crushed into a tight space. Although sometimes I think they are dead only for them to have moved a few hours later.

I'm thinking that I should order some ants that are more suitable too it. I just hope that they will be able to remove all the dead ants from the tunnels.

I don't need a ant farm, damn things are finding there way in to the house from outside in to the frontroom and kitchen
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?

My ants are now starting to dig down more and more. I found a dead ant on the surface this morning by a tunnel, so maybe they brought her up in the night

I have found that most of my ants crowd in one main hive, they do look crushed but believe me they can move. Give the antworks a couple of knocks and they all start moving.

Actually one of the 3 has gone but they were there for at least 2 days without moving. I guess they may be ok then

Shocked to see this thread on the second page

Here is another update, the ants are doing well and are slowly moving down to the bottom of the antworks, there seems to be activity in all the tunnels which is good. They tend to trap themseles quite a bit I have noticed. There is a dead one at the top which I am just gonna remove.

Can the rest of you with them post up some pics.
