Trust me they are half the size of the black ants.

Some progress with my ants. I've got 4 good workers, got 3 tunnels, one long one that goes half way down, the other two are about 1/4 the way down. But I've still got about 10 of them sitting in the corner (although not on top of each other now) around some of the eggs (I think some of the eggs have been moved into a tunnel).

What can I do to get the rest going? Would giving them suguar give them some energy?

How many eggs did everyone else get? How many ants did everyone get, if you ordered from the place that was recommended in the kit? I got 15 ants (living) 2 died in the container in transit, and 3 eggs that have yet to do anything!

    Many thanks

I personally wouldn't recommend you give them any food if you want them to dig. I found that if you feed them they have no incentive to eat the gel, so they just get fat and lazy on whatever food you put in there.

I got about 10 eggs, half of which have now hatched, the new baby ants are all over the place, they are really small as well.

I will take some pictures tomorrow.

Well when summer comes and all those lovely flying ants come out to play, and they start to raid your kitchen for food, think well of those that you have captured. Most of my time is spent keeping ants OUT the house! LOL!

I'll admit, I wouldn't mind one in my work place. Heh will certianly liven things up!

Here are some of the latest pictures,

My tunnels have not really progressed that much, I wish I had the larger black ants first maybe they would dig more. Some of my ants have now started to try to go the air holes. The stupid things keep on failing of the plastic though and hurt themselves.

    Don't seem to work mate?

The black ants are a bit crap atm. Got 4 digging pretty well but the rest just stay on job and seem to be looking after the eggs. Anyone else have that sort of behaviour?

Looks like my host is down, it was working a second ago. I am sure it will be back very soon.

They do tend to look after the larvae until they hatch. Typical behaviour for any type of animal/insect.
