I dont think i have ever been in one of these places...
mind you there are loads about...just never felt the need.
We have a tea lady at the office who comes round and takes our order and goes to the kitchen and makes us tea or coffee...(for when you cant be bothered to go there yourself).

FWIW - caffeinated drinks *do* have an effect on me, regardless of any 'expose' (pfft) in such a beverage-specialist publication as Auto Express.
:-P

Googled around, found the results of a survey made by Auto Express and the Institute of Advance Motorists recommend drinking a strong coffee "if necessary" as one of the options to keep alert whilst driving.

Auto Express is a motoring magazine.Originally Posted by Mike Fishcake

They measured the actual amount of caffeine present in "strong" coffee.
They found that: "Of 25 service stations tested, not one served coffee strong enough to keep a driver awake for the recommended two hours"
and: "even the strongest, a double espresso, would take half a pint to deliver the necessary kick-start."
Half a pint!!! Of espresso!!!
Quite a serious point, really, hardly worth dismissing just because Auto Express is not a beverage-specialist publication!
So, I maintain my opinion that decaffeinated coffee is totally pointless when normal coffee contains so little caffeine.
It is entirely possible that decaf bought in one shop could contain more caffeine than normal coffee bought from a different shop.

Rajagra, I don't care what Auto Express says about service station coffee. Whenever I drink caffeinated coffee, it either sends me as loopy as a tartrazine-fuelled toddler, or gives me the shakes, and when I drink decaff, this doesn't happenOriginally Posted by rajagra
I have no reason to lie. It happens. If you like, I'll come round to yours, drink a pint of proper coffee and you can watch me bounce off your walls
One shouldn't use coffee to stay awake on the road, that is sort of just covering up tiredness making it more dangerous.
Went to Tonbridge Caffe Nero today, honestly the best espresso I have ever had - beautiful, really nice ambience, everything just wonderful there.... piss of starbucks
Although I do take the point of whoever said that independant coffee houses can do better coffee.
I'm a recent convert to Caffe Nero. I love their espresso macchiato, and unlike starbucks, the espresso is not at all bitter, its perfecto!
ever tried a frascato from Costa, they are for teh win. its not coffee but its well nice
next time you go into costa (because you know its the best) go and ask for a double choc flake frascato and enjoy!
Never heard of Nero myself, don't know if you get em up here. But I'l look out for one. I'm a big coffee drinker, and would have to say that I love Starbucks. They have really nice black coffees, and the mugs are good too. I would say the white chocolate mocha is a tad sweet when you reach the bottom! The starbucks here are all comfy, leather seats etc. and the staff are all very nice. No problems.

I agree that Starbucks, Nero et al are expensive.. but Starbucks Frappuccinos are so nice (and expensive!)..
Click here for BOGOF Frappuccinos http://lounge.starbucks.co.uk/
Be warned that some staff might not know about this offer..
Grr, starbucks black coffee is horrible piss. If you've actually had some really good ground coffee made from beans that aren't bought by the kilo-tonne, then you starbucks just feels like they make coffee with about 1 bean per litre.
(I hate them rather alot). I also feel quite guilty, as all the starbucks top brass were at a convention in a hotel I was staying in in canada, and I neglected to kill them. Forgive me lord.
Nero sell coffee, god knows what StarF***s sell.
Plus, nero havd wel priced wifi, starshmucks want to charge you through orifices other than your wallet.
ph33r my toothbrush, for it is made of SCROTANIUM
scary thought...
starbucks makes their coffee for an average of $0.05 per cup, including said cup, espresso, water and milk. doesn't factor in power, but fundamentally they're making a profit of 70 times what it costs per coffee!
Will upload some pics later of my visit to Starbucks yesterday with EvilWeevil.
We go Tuesdays 3.30 for an hour and a half, Thursdays 3.30 for 3/4 an hour & Fridays 4:30 to six.
Spent so much
