So am I right in thinking we can acquire a US copy of Vista Ultimate and use it in the UK no problems?
A mate of mine is taking his family to Disneyland a a couple of months. Perhaps I should ask him to buy me a retail copy of Vista while he is there.
I feel sorry for the retailers, I mean seriously, even with vat and import tax/duty, its still around £130 cheaper to order from America, so who in their right mind would order from the UK?
That's assuming that the US version will definately work here.
Am I right in thinking that the retail version of Vista will not suffer from the same activation problems as the OEM? i.e if I decide to change my motherboard with the retail copy I won't need to reactivate as I have bought the license for use with any machine I own (as long as it is only ever installed on one at any one time)?
If it still suffers from that then why not just get the OEM copy?
Don't think it does as MS changed the EULA after some complaints from hardware enthusiasts.
Amazon and other large retailers could easily stock import coppies. They are quite willing to sell import coppies of music CDs, so why not software? I suspect there is a proffitering motive behind that decisson.
I don't think the export of crypto argument applies, as I am fairly sure that rule was repealed by president Clinton.
Wouldnt it take more than a day for their stock to arrive from America though?
Come on, then, Lee, will Scan be selling us imported (or otherwise) Vista Ultimate at knock down prices?
I'm just waiting for Vista to come out before building my next PC, which will coming partly from Scan and partly from Dabs. Who will be the lowest bidder to supply me with Vista? ;-)
Rob.
