    My 2003 is @ http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3003364

How come half of your tests don't seem to run on the 2001 benchmark? My compare url seems to have twice as many tests as yours. Is that why yours is so much higher, Bouncin?

No the effect of only running game tests is at the most 100 points if anything at all. it just saves time m8y.

and i ran every test exept 60 sounds in the 03 url i put up ?

u only have to actually look at the scores on the game tests to realise why im scoring more and its not because of less tests.

its like the question why is my 3400+ beating ur 3500+ on the cpu score

having the hardware is a good start but to make the magic u gotta configure and choose it all well. And on top of that these are only numbers ur 03 score compared to mine would be like 1fps in a real world situation in other words totally unoticable.

hehe i know where ur coming from

but instead of just setting ur slider to performance on the cat drivers go into custom settings and make sure every slider is at its lowest then apply this in opengl and d3d settings.

open the 3d mark program but b4 actually running the program hold ctrl-alt+delete then go to processes right click on the 3d mark process then go to priority set priority to high or real time

also check in bios and set ur gfx appature to 256 and try disabling and enabling fast writes to see which one yeilds better results for ya.

close down all unesiccary* programs in ur task bar including internet and anti virus

just a few tips to help u make ur pc the bestest in the world lol

    regular defrags also help

hope this helps ur score m8y

and tbh the only thing holding ur system back from being in the top %age is ur ram

ur beating me on 03 now bugger wish id kept my mouth shut lol

nah but honestly m8y n1. now im just tryin to figure out whats up with ur 01 score cos that was the worrying one as it means there is a problem with ur pc somewhere and as 03 has shown it aint ur gfx card?

Do you have ur mobo drivers installed ? Stupid question but lots of people forget em ?

its gotta be something quite noticable as 2,700 is a lot of points to lose on 01? and i guarantee its not just down to ram timings or such.

And @ azrael tbh if ur runnin stock it really aint that important although its nice to run tight timings. but when u begin to overclock you dont want to slacken up the timings as the performance increase will be hindered. So its always better to get ram that is shown by folks like us to overclock well. so instead of building a new system everytime a cpu comes out u can just up the fsb and match its performance. without losing any extra bandwidth from slackening ur timings

the performance differnce at 200fsb with tight timings works out to something silly like a 1% increase which is nothing really.

    LOL ... kewl!!

Mobo drivers installed, with it set up in the bios for "auto overclocking" ... wonder if that means it'll throttle when it gets hot? The thing is though, idle temps are 45-50 and load only seems to go up to 55-60 max, which oughtn't be enough to throttle, surely.

    Very confusing.

that depends on what ur thermal throttling is set at as i have never used thermal throttling i would assume its set at 60.

right then make a notwe of all the change u have made in bios then reset ur cmos now try changing them 1 or 2 at a time and running a bench to see if theres any difference.

New tech in the bios is gr8 when u can use it but can really hinder u if u set something wrong and dont realise lol.

hope u know how to reset cmos properly if not dont do it as it could bork ur board.
correct way is to shut down remove power cable hit power button or reset a couple of times to discharge any power. Then earth urself to ur pc case. short the jumper return it to position and add power then start her up

Instructions are in my mobo manual for a CMOS reset. I'm curious though ... how would I earth myself to my PC case if there's no powercable in the back? Where would the static go?

Actually, I think I can quite easily do a reset-to-default on my BIOS in the setup ... would that not be sufficient?

More important than benchmarks is how actual games look -

That's great Buzzard, but lets have a nice, outside shot, with the ocean at your feet, and islands in the distance.

That's when FarCry looks best, not some Doom III style coridoor shot (even if there are actually some lights in FarCry )

Yeah Dakid mate your RAM is definately the weak link in that system, and was a pretty bad matchup for your shiny new 3500+ and X800XT PE.

What you need is OCZ PC3500 or PC3700 EB for tight timings and high FSB, it's the best memory you can get for A64 bar none. Only problem is that your notherboard is the KT800PRO chipset so i'm not sure whether you're AGP/PCI lock works or not, or if you can get it to work through a BIOS update.
