£220 or so. Not cheap i'll wager, but future-proof for a while yet.

I'd have offered him my spare PC3500 EB, but I think bouncin has bagsied it.

Hmm, I do have 1GB Crucial Ballistix that i'm not using though and thats pretty nifty.

    Am I a RAM whore?

And Vaul, I bought another 2x X800XT PE's that I need to sell, but the demand ain't as great as the last one was. Should make over £100 on em though.

£220? Not as bad as I thought to be honest, but its still £70 more than I paid for my Corsair, and the performance increase, would probably not be worth an extra £70 hole in your wallet. I agree its the best, if you have to have it, but probably not the best price\performance RAM for your A64.

Ballistix is nifty mate, 6-2-2-2, and orange heatspreaders. Can't ask for more, can you?

Hope you make a few quid on those XTs mate - make enough and you can use the cash to buy an outfit to pose for another 'arty' snap in black and white.

    Oooh, you sexy beast.

my god is that all i play at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and 16xaf lol with settings maxed and still get absolutely blinding framerates. (Bit overkill lol but i do it cos i can lol)

But dont u agree those floors look absolutely mint lol thet way they shine .

First time i noticed was the other day when a trigen smashed my head in and i ended up with an extreme closeup of it lol

yeah the ocz is comin into my beast muhaha cheers for keeping it m8y.

and i did a wee bit of overclockin over the weekend

the ram runs fine at its specified 1200 speed but core doesnt like doin above 540 . ill soon fix that with the arctic cooler. but everything about this card says toasty at the minute so i dont wanna push it too much till i get the correct cooling.
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3033357

thats at the speeds stated above with some omega drivers using the radlinker to overclock it

Strange, I can't wait to do a re-install when I get the DFI Lanparty UT mobo. When I played Far Cry at 1600*1200 4xAA 8xAF I got framerates dipping to the 22's at Ultra details in outdoor scenes, draw distance at max, with my A64 at 2450mhz (****e FSB though but still...).

The best part to put your graphics card through its paces and see how the settings really do on Far Cry is load the 3rd or 4th checkpoint on the very first training level, which is the autosave just as you get to that hut across from the mercenary camp, where you find the binoculars. It's a very heavy outdoor scene and as you're on the top of a hill you can see absolutely everything. If you walk around that area then head town to the mercenary camp while just looking at everything its a big strain on the GPU.

bouncin, try that checkpoint on 1600*1200, full max ultra details + draw distance with 4xAA 8xAF and tell me how low your framerate dips, i'd be interested to know.

And Vaul, my place, tonight at 7pm, bring the champers.

1600x1200 is playable but I prefer the extra smoothness I get at 1280x960.

Heres a nice outdoors screenie for Trbes: Vengeance
http://www.thebuzzard.myby.co.uk/tribesv.jpg Max details setting at 1280x1024 8xAF 0xAA runs smooth as anything, very pretty game but not my bag.

And speaking of Doom3 http://www.thebuzzard.myby.co.uk/doom16a.jpg 1600x1200 high detail setting. Who says the X800Xt is no good for this game

Only outdoors shot of farcry I did was this one
    http://www.thebuzzard.myby.co.uk/farcry3.jpg
Coz I like those biohazard logos
    I like these servers too
    http://www.thebuzzard.myby.co.uk/farcry2.jpg

The jaggies seem much more pronounced in those screenshots, dont notice them at all when Im playing so I never bother with FSAA or running at 1600x1200 most the time.

Thos screenshots are not done for eyecandy they are a fair representation of the settings I like to use to give me smooth high framrates so i can enjoy the gameplay. I could just put all the quality setting to max and resolution upto 1600 x1200 but Id rather had 100% smooth play.

Just did ur test and did the log in fraps. at 2 points my fps dropped to 20fps but that was due to caching the average was ad 35-40 i also went onto the next checkpoint and gave the guys a heavy fight to see if it dropped but there was only a couple of fps difference. will get some fraps screenies for you if needed or can supply the log file if u wanna have a more indepth look rich

But i would say an average of 37fps at 1600x1200 with 4xaa and 16xaf

there is a massive difference when running 8xaa though wouldnt really class it as playable tbh

Hmm I think it all went tits up after I installed my X800 actually. Im sure that when I first bought the 6800GT it ran Far Cry smooth as silk at those settings, and despite having been careful when I took it out and installed the X800XT (used Drivercleaner etc etc) maybe there is still some confict somewhere.

As I say, a clean install will be a good idea asoon as DFI get their arse in grear and release their mobo.

bouncin are you running 512MB or 1GB RAM?

I had to make a decision about RAM or CPU ... budget was fixed, so I went for the best CPU I could get with cheaper RAM ... it'll be easier to upgrade RAM later, and I think it was worth it so I could have socket 939 mobo/cpu

imonly runnin 512 aswell which is why i get the caching and fps drops when i very first start the game. which is why im really intent on gettin that gb off you lol. cos i find doom3 3 to be a very poor performer on 512 even with the x800xt.

lol it may be an idea to scale it down a bit mate, its miles too big to fit on the page.

But yeah, when you want that GB of RAM just lemme know, ive packaged it up and its just sitting on the side atop my wardrobe with the rest of my spare parts.

Hmm whats the max Vdimm on the EPOX? Is it 2.8 or 2.9?

Yeah, just scale it down a bit mate, it might be a bit much for our 800x600 56k friends.

How much you flogging Bouncin this RAM for then, Rich?
