Just read in the local paper today that the 80Mb/s switch will occur sometime next year for me. Nice! Probably on 31st December 2012 though...

how long does it usually take for speeds to stabilize? (after having fibre installed).
I had 20 mb on the day of installation, then dropped down to 6mb and has been hovering around there since...this was a week ago. Same as my last normal broadband connection!
We were estimated 31 online, and then closer to 40 by open reach when he did a test on property.
I've reset the white fibre router here and there...
They dont seem to be adding more locations to the roll out list anymore.

My Infinity has just been installed..took 10 minutes from when he got here - friendly engineer who wall mounted the Modem (3B version..so shouldn't have the overheating issues), then was happy for me to wire up the cat5 etc myself (I wanted to connect the modem directly to one of my wall sockets, so I could place the router upstairs out of the way).
Works perfectly - getting great speeds..what's even better is that he said my Cabinet is one of the few lucky ones that supports 105mb..just with a limiter on at the moment. Due to be activated in the next few months apparently, and my line will support it..happy days
Good news! I take it you had the Cat 5e wiring in place already.
Better change your 'measly' 8MB ADSL system now then
