I've got an install date of October 12th.
Currently with o2 and get 5.8Mbps down, but BT estimated I would get 27.4 down!
[Edit] - Not it's of any consequence, but does anyone have any idea how I would find out where my Infinity cabinet is?

I remember BT as one of the worst ISP out there. However with all this new adverts saying its great, i was gonna try them myself. After quick check with virgin i am still stuck with them for another 4 months. However, BT does or did a promo which gives you 3 months free, only pay for the phone line, also free installation and all that, if you pay phone line for a year i think you save 40 or somtn comes to 12 a month. Also you get a shiny 25 amazon voucher, which is a good as money Anyone tried it? Please put me off somehow, can't wait another 4 months otherwise
I had real dramas trying to get info about what my options were for getting Infinity installed (as our home phone is currently with the Post Office).
I won't bore you with the details, but it got sorted after an email to the top man at BT and my dealins with them after that were painless.
I think there's still a lot of the left hand/right hand mentality within BT, but the guy that contacted me after my email in has promised to check in post install and gave me his email address for any future reference.
Roll on October the 12th!

They say that for me, my download speed is UP to 16MB, is it now, yes that is why I have 500-800KB/s coming through.
Remember download speed is not just on Skys end, it is also on your end.
Using a laptop connected up to the router allows 8MB/s to come through, up stairs I have 800KB/s wirelessly.
Also the use of UP to is used a lot, the maximum you get is very rare. Its the maximum you will get off peak time.
So on average you will get half at max, its all a load of lies at the end of the day to get you into purchasing packages, but guess what, traffic goes through the same line, so whatever package you get as long as it is unlimited you won't receive greater speeds, because the local lines are set by BT anyway, and traffic isn't going to go much faster if you switch ISP (unless it is talktalk -_-)
Just read that FTTP is launching end of October in my area. Up to 110Mbps down and 30 up. Exactly where in the area I don't know though.
Had it for a few weeks now, downloads are rocket speed and getting about 30mps download consistently! Pretty good thus far apart from BT signing us up for the limited service when we paid for the unlimited one! Soon sorted that though. I never rate BT for anything, and have always gone O2 - but must say I'm impressed...thus far
I'm with you on not really rating BT, my initial contact with them to enquire about getting Infinity was an absolute nightmare.
We have our home phone through the Post Office as they offer free international calls and free calls to UK mobiles from 6pm Friday) and a 2nd number (for incoming business calls) on the line.
I spoke to what felt like very BT employee on the planet initially, getting a different answer every time with regards to what options they could/couldn't offer me.
Following my email to the top man, it turned out that it wasn't possible to transfer in both the home number and the 2nd number, I could only have the main home number transferred.
Anyway, after speaking to someone sensible from BT, it also transpired that there isn't a technical reason you "need" a BT phone line for Infinity, it's simply their business model and they are using it to get more phone lines back to BT (which I don't have a problem with).
They also try to force the anytime calls package on you, along with the phone line but I managed to get just a basic line rental package (free weekend calls only). I also went with the "pay £120 up front for a year's line rental" option, as that obviously equates to £10 per month.
So we'll be paying £25.60 for Infinity & (the equivalent of) £10 per month for line rental, plus SWMBO now gets a £25 per month home broadband allowance with her new job, so that's a bonus.
For my 2nd business number, I went with Vonage.
I got a free (reconditioned) phone adaptor to plug in to the router and I pay £8.99 per month, which gives me unlimited calls to uk landlines and international calls (inc mobile calls to Canada).
This suits me perfectly as I have friends relatives in Canada, Spain and Australia, plus it doesn't matter if I ever change phone provider again as the number just stays with me.
The other advantage is that if I go abroad I can take the adaptor with me, plug it in to an ethernet connection and make the same calls for free (internationally or to UK landlines).
Anyway, enough for me-roll on October 12th!
***Update***
The Openreach Engineer rang at 8.20am to say he would be with me in 5 minutes!
He came in, looked around and said he was off to the cabinet and would be back within 30 mins (he was back in 15!)
Half an hour later and I was all up and running....
To say I'm pleased would be an understatement!

I am moving to an new flat and the guy I am moving in with has suggested BT Infinity. The speeds look OK, but that ping is much higher than what I currently get on O2 ADSL...
Is that normal? Can anyone with BT Infinity run a pingtest.net test and post their results?
A small update. BT have obviously been doing some fine tuning as my download speeds have improved by about 13Mbit/s. That's almost a 50% increase since I first signed up with them.
An Atlantean Triumvirate, Ghosts of the Past, The Centre Cannot Hold
The Pillars of Britain, Foundations of the Reich, Cracks in the Pillars.
My books are available here for Amazon Kindle. Feedback always welcome!
Please, never never go with BT.
Fair enough I'm not on Infinity, but with estimated 8MB/s down my line and getting:
I would never contemplate giving them another pound of my money for any "upgrade" they are offering.
An estimated speed is supposed to be close to what you will actually get right? I've been ringing them up now for several weeks now, nagging them to come and fix the problem (it's not just the speed). I even had an engineer who came and tried to palm me off with a load of , telling me everything was fine. He said he'd fix "a circuit board" at the exchange - nothing actually got fixed.
Please don't waste your time and money with them.
