Its certainly not seamless if you cancel the first service! Took me 3 weeks to get my new service, although I was on holiday for a week! I got withdrawl symptoms!

this is what tiscali email support said

    "Dear Mrs. Rosevear,

Thank you for contacting Tiscali Customer Support.

I would like to inform that we do not provide the ?Migration Access Code (MAC)? to our customers, since Tiscali does not support migration between Internet Service Providers (ISPs)."

which is true , becuase they dont because the mechanism isn't currently available to do so.

You will need to cancel and re-order. It might take some time.

Look on the bright side, change to reputable ISP and you will never have this problem again.

Plusnet, Zen, Pipex, Eclipse are all good providers (although I am biased to Plusnet).

i cant see any reason why it takes 3 weeks to unflag a line, is a rediculous claim. i think there should be a code of conduct that all ISP's HAVE to follow when it comes to Migration etc.

I don't understand what tiscali have done wrong. They don't do migration because they use a datastream service so can't give MAC numbers!

I think the main gripe is that they never infomed ther costomers about this. And if they do cancle they take too long to relece the line.

"Thank you for contacting Tiscali Customer Support.

We will not be able to provide you with the MAC number, as this code of practice is a voluntary measure which has been proposed and developed by an industry group of broadband service providers and Tiscali is not a member of that group. The code aims to secure agreement between service providers to facilitate 'migration' of customers from one provider to another?.

Tiscali do not support migration between Internet Service Providers (ISPs)."

well at least they were honest by email

they use datastream so they cant give you a mac address..... thats fair enough but to compensate they should unflag your line straight away!
