Although 50mb seems tempting, I think it's rather useless at the moment. I've noticed since I went from 1mb -> 10mb, that most websites bottleneck downloads to around 150kb/s to 250kb/s... Very rarely do I get to use the total bandwidth, unless it's on a site like Microsoft.com

I'm on 10Mb and am been very happy with it - but only 'cos retentions knocked it down to £17.
Moved up to 10Mb, 'cos 2Mb was well down on speed.
Was using a 1 Mb NTL connection at the weekend and that was very fast - much better than when I had that speed.
I don't really get the benefit of 10Mb, 'cos all users here tend to be on at peak times and bottlenecks are always at the other end.

I've not noticed any, and I've grabbed up to 250gb a month on a fair few occaisions.

telewest are supposed to be generally better than ntl from reading around

apex - how is cable faster than max std which is approx half meg up, and max office which is 800k up ?

are you saying you get 1 meg up ? I looked at ntl products last night and it was 384 ?

The upload, just like the doanload on adsl max is subject to the line quality.

Whille the cable upload on ntl is not the 448k it does mean that i will actually be able to use the upload instead of being at the mercy of cap rates / line quality

In the bad old days of dial ip dad use to have a line from telewest just for dialup, i had bt line ( was new at the time too ) i tested out the modem that i had on both lines and it felt more responsive on the line from telewest over the bt line
The same is for the cable broadband, it feels far more responsive and at the mo i am currently able to max the 2mb ntl line out over my 8meg adsl max line that am lucky to see over 60k/s per d/l.

Now a lot of this is down to how the isp is set up, but from reading round a lot of isp's are like this.

Cable just feels better, it feels more responsive.

60k/s per d/l. on an adsl max line - that seems to be rather low

    cheers for the thoughts

its for a large business. The network connects via our ADSL through a cisco switch to other networks all over the world (within the same company) This allows secure file transfer emails etc.

That's being conservative in my usage probably.
