Will do
Thats the one yeah.
I've been waiting 3 weeks and now i've got another 4 to wait.
Long wait for a laptop .. Do let us know how it works when it gets here. Im specifically interested in battery life. I have 4.5 hrs now and I would not go for anything with less than that. I absolutely need atleast that much.

Hmm, have to remember this next time we need to purchase PC's for the office. Though TBH I'd imagine it's hard to get discounts on our normal machines, last lot we purchased at £250 each and got free shipping on most of them
I was always under the impression it was all about the warranty with Dell.
I've used their warranty RTB services at least 10 times and every time it's been perfect. Telephone Customer service is another matter altogether.
"Look at the back of your machine...there is a thick black cable...follow the cable to the wall...."
"Sorry, let me interrupt, are you going to tell me to turn the machine off?"
The warranty service is why I choose dell. I have a 4 years onsite xps (treated like royalty ) warranty on this one. It just means if it ever breaks i know it will be fixed the next day and ready to go again.
Thats said its not all about the warranty.. this particular xps and its predecessor the m1210 to a certain extent are the best near enough ultra prortable laptops you can buy.
The sony's are quite good but performance wise always seem to lose out to the dell.
EDIT: missed your post sinizter.. I'll post up my thoughts when I do get it. I have the 9 cell battery (sticks out) and i'll be getting a 4 or 6 cell spare later on.
It's said to last around 4.5 hours with the 8400gs, mid brightness and wifi from what i remember and probably around another hour with the x3100 instead of the geforce.

A discount on there new product line?
More likely to get a discount on the older Dimensions that are still in stock but not listed on the site anymore
I got a 35% (probably more now the order is delayed) on the new xps m1330 but that was using coporate discount.
the guys over at notebookreview are getting very similar deals to mine though, 20-25%.
I'm paying £1150 for a spec that was £1700 and is now £1750+
i cant say for certain.
The D630's i have in the office with 7200rpm drives and the x3100 run for around 6 - 7 hours.. tried and tested so the xps should be silmilar.
yep the x3100 supports a max of 1080p from memory
yes, you could say I work in the motor trade. But the parallel I drew was so you grabbed it, and it struck a chord.
Glad you got a deal, but if the whole world keeps strapping people like Dell down, over n over, (as per the press suggestion, exactly the same as in car dealing) there won't be a company to make a warranty claim on if it goes wrong.
As per the sheer and vast amount of car dealers struggling to make a proper living. Same rules.
None the less, well done for securing a great deal

I think these refresh laptops will allow dell to take some of the fight back to HP..if any company should go under it should be them
