i saw the post about the fubar fitting..
oh well £380 just gone flying out my accounts, thats for 2 480 blocks, 2 flow meters, 2 inline temp sensors, a contorller card and add on board. time to start a project log.

GL. What case are you planning on using then?
800d of course
even though i just found out its the same size as my coolermaster cosmos height and length lol
Still, cosmos doesn't take a triple 120 rad iirc?

What's the need for a pump top?

Soz for being a watercooling noob, I'm looking into a slap dash mod for my antec 300 by fitting a 240mm rad in the front. Difference between a compression fitting and a barb? does a compression fitting link between different barb sizes?
compression fittings the same as a barb but you screw it down to lock the pipe in instead of fitting a clamp over the barb

It's worth saying that barbs don't necessarily need a jubilee clip / clamp to stay water-tight - you can just push the hose over them. I suspect most people use clips though, just to be on the safe side...
fair enough - I don't have the benefit of experience... yet
Any reason to choose one over the other?
aesthetics, compression fittings look better

As GoNz0 rightly says, a compressing fitting has a collar which screws down, if you remove the collar you're essentially left with a stubby barbed fitting with a threaded part, the collar then secures the pipe around the fitting much like jubilee/terry clips do on barbs
I'll take a piccy of them in a bit with the collar removed to give you a visual representation
As GoNz0 said again, they look better
That's about it really, other people will try and feed you excuses that they're much better at sealing the tubing, but they're not, if you do a decent job, either is the same

Cheers. I'm gonna try and get my dad to fund a watercooling project if I get 5 As in my exams
