This game looks absolutely fantastic, glad the team behind it are taking their time to make it as awesome as possible! Saw the video from the dog-fighting module at PAX at the physics look second to none!
Little update on the DFM: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/c...Report-May-5-9
We've been here before:
He noted, then, that the current Star Citizen/Squadron 42 release schedule is very tentative, and already some pieces are getting jostled by (so far) minor patches of turbulence. The dogfighting module, for instance, will launch at the end of 2013 no matter what, but it might not include multiplayer until early next year. There is never any explanation of these delays either, just that it's not ready. That's over *5* months past the "no matter what" stage. We’ll have more exact dates to share by the end of next week,
I know you want this to succeed guys, but I can't help feeling you're being taken for a massive ride.
The more I watch the hype on Star Citizen, the more I get a gut feeling it's going to be a golden turd. And this is from someone who is an original backer so I have a vested interest in it.
I just get somewhat irritated at the whole 'theater' of the hype at every stage of a game that doesn't even exist yet. People are putting silly money into a game that they don't even know when/if will be out.
And as for upgrading your PC now to be 'ready' for Star Citizen? Absolute and utter folly, it's likely it won't even be out till at least 2016 so why even think about it for now?
I'll be honest I delete the weekly newsletters and only dip into it every few months to keep tabs on where it is. I'll be interested in the dogfighting module but it's just too early to make any sort of judgement call.
I'm largely in the same boat: I put £30 in about 18 months or so ago but at this point I'm prepped to write it off as vapourware.
Elite: Dangerous however? I'm enjoying being rubbish in the single player alpha build, and looking forward to being constantly destroyed in the first beta round from the 30th May (which I'm pretty confident they'll hit).
...and the 29th arrived and passed, further delays. I'm not overly fussed as I have the Elite Dangerous premium beta launching today (no delays there, just no set time for release today) so that's likely to take up most of my weekend.
Arena Commander (dog fighting module) is now available for download

OMG OMG OMG downloading
A guy on youtube said that he's running it maxed at 1440p with a solid 60fps. All being run by a single 670 with a mild oc.
any idea what cpu he has? that's going to make a big difference! also, that might just be in free flight mode. which doesn't at all give a realistic benchmark for a full on multiplayer game or any other scenarios. this is only the dfm as well. the complete universe is going to take way more to run it decently! just trying to be realistic here i'm downloading now anyway. will let you guys know how it runs on my setup. i won't have access to multiplayer yet though. i may have to wait a few weeks for that.
He said "2700k at 5.5 Ghz, 16 Gigs of RAM. All water cooled." which is crazy as I didn't think people could get such a high stable oc on a cpu. Anyway I downloaded it and on the auto detected high preset I get anything from 30-45ish. I can't figure out how to close my ship door, open the hangar door or take off.
