So I guess you guys all know but the dog fight module has been delayed. Kind of bummed out but I'm happy that they are working on a more stable release first.

Is there any estimate on when the dog fight module is going to released?

Even if there is, it's another pointless date.
This wasn't very long ago: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013...s-on-doubters/

He noted, then, that the current Star Citizen/Squadron 42 release schedule is very tentative, and already some pieces are getting jostled by (so far) minor patches of turbulence. The dogfighting module, for instance, will launch at the end of 2013 no matter what, but it might not include multiplayer until early next year.
Barely 2 days left. I think we all know it's not going to happen at the moment.

I just don't get why people are going so crazy over this. It's cost some people a fortune, it's not playable, no release date, more delays, total lack of gameplay information.....but it's got a few flashy videos I guess :\

Still hoping it turns out to be awesome, but it's showing a few worrying signs right now. I guess it's a question of if they can survive on the money they have and release something for the money cycle to continue, or if people are just going to keep sinking money into it on a promise.

Not sure what you mean. It hasn't been released yet so we don't know how much it's going to cost. You can chose to make a donation to the development of the game now if you like.

It costs something like $35 for a basic package, including a starting ship, copy of game, Alpha and Beta access and a few little extras.
Elite Dangerous is more expensive for the same kind of package...

I'm excited, I was a little young to get the most out of Elite so Freelancer was my big space-sim and I adored that game. Every last silly moment of it. If this captures the same magic I felt haring around Space-America, Space-Britain, Space-Japan and Space-Germany whilst looking for them crazy Space-Aliens then I'll consider this game a smashing success.

I get the impression this is intended to be a heavily buffed up and maxed out hybrid of Freelancer and Starlancer/Wing Commander. Basically everything Roberts dreamed of doing all along but couldn't achieve with the tech of the day.

I'm sticking with just my basic starting package, so I can have fun with it. Might buy some extra character slots to play in parallel, but half the fun is starting anew and building up from scratch, in which case one only needs to buy the finished game.

That and I can't afford the real money for bigger ships, but that's why I like how everything can be bought in-game too!

All I remember of Elite is a Speccy 48K cassette that would load so infrequently I never got past the very early stages!!

That's the way I'm doing it as well, just stick with the basic ship and work my way up in game. As we spoke about this before I won't go too much into my thoughts on buying the ships with real cash...

When its actually released I'm just hoping its just a normal game but then if thats the case what about all the people that have thrown money at it?
I know the person who pledged 22K and the person who pledged at least 15K. The latter being in the same organisation.

Star Citizen is pretty unique. It will be very detailed in simulating a universe with star travel. But the great thing is. There is no begin or end. There is no leveling. The whole game doesn't present a goal you work to, and it doesn't dictate what you have to do. YOU create your own experience. You decide where to go. From the start you can decide what you want to do and become. Space pirate, merchant, private military, information broker, businessman, mechani, explorer, etc, etc.

You can go fight aliens, or fly to the edge of space, explore new galaxies, mine planets or for the heck of it, attack an idiris with an aurora(largest ship being the idiris where several spaceships can land on, smallest is aurora which would be like a fly to the idiris) but when you are face to face, scream LEEEROOOY JENKINSSSS, either be killed within a sec or crash into the commanding tower. You know it's awesome what you did.

This game can't disappoint, because you create your experience. You can only disappoint yourself.

Not since Chris Roberts put Freelancer out, no... but especially not these days, with everyone jumping on the Space Sim bandwaggon. There's about 12 forthcoming ones (all of whom seem to have just copied CR's brief for Star Citizen) as well as Elite, of course!

I'll probably try most of the good looking ones out... said the bishop to the actress!!

Yes there have! Tons and tons of games do the freeform thing, many of them set in space, and some even as you in direct control.

Hmm I have been looking forward for this game for a long time, Im hoping that there might be oculus rift support for this game when it comes out, because by that time maybe in 2015 the oculus rift consumer version will finally launch
