Out of interest how did you stream your DayZ session to Twitch the other day. I might try this sometime.

It looks like the Team Speak channel was deleted as I don't have sufficient permissions to do this, which stands to reason.
Permanent TS channel set up for this game now. I think current 'approved users' can make other users 'normal users' which should allow them access to the Elite Channel, otherwise you will be stuck in the lobby.
Its not the end of the world is there are no approved users online, there is multiple subchannels channels, its just with a 'public' team speak you can get douchebags coming in and playing music (hasn't happened so far...), so i set up a secondary 'approval' step to allow us peace during moments of tense gaming

KeyboardDemon is now also an admin so he should also be able to set up channels etc.

Send me a PM if you have any problems

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Seriously tempted by this now, have been watching this and Star Citizen with great interest, and it looks like this is becoming the better game for me.

Some questions if you may, although you may not be able to answer these as it's just in beta at the moment.

Keyboard and mouse: I see lots of people complaining about handling whilst using K&M, is this still the case? I have an Xbox 360 controller, anyone have any experience using that to fly/fight/etc? I used to have an old, old Cyborg lying around somewhere, but I may have thrown that away in my last move as I hadn't used it for years.

What can you do? So far, all the vids I am watching are showing people flying from station to station trading to earn a few hundred credits all the time. Are there, or will there be, missions? Group activities? Mining? Production? PvP? Pirating?

Graphics, they look amazing. My system is above the minimum requirements, but does anyone know how my trusty old 560Ti will cope with settings turned up a little at 1080p? It handles most new games with no issues, so I'm guessing it will be OK.

Character names. I have used the character name Allen Jameson in EVE for a long time as a homage to Elite's Commander Jameson, but I think I read somewhere that no-one will be able to use the name "Jameson" in their character names. Anyone know if this is true? If so, it will make me sad panda face.

Cheers for any answers guys, maybe I'll see you in game soon!

Quick video of some dogfighting using FacetrackNoIR. Very pleased with how well it works in ED.

That is awesome. Memories of playing Falcon3.0 with the camera set to headtrack opponents. Hope that's an option for E as well.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

You can't directly padlock an opponent, you have to free look around to do it. You can either do it with the mouse (tricky) or as I explored using a facial tracking thing with a webcam.

Excellent, I spotted your friend request and accepted already.

Check out this Reference sheet for the Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas X that was put together by technome on the Frontier forums, I use this layout and think it's a great starting point for getting the game set up.

I buckled, add me in game: Commander Frickr

Getting used to flying around, it's great so far. Found a vid with a nice little trade route to get me started, buying metals from Dahan, transporting them to Asellus Primus, selling them, buying technology and returning them to Dahan. Not bad so far, except I made a really stupid mistake when I had around 5k of goods in my hold and accidentally fired my guns when docking. Back to square one!

Back to square one again, I just did it a second time. Lost thousands in cargo and left with very little...

I don't remember Frontier: Elite II being this unforgiving... Then again, once you lined up with the station, it docked you automagically.

First up when you're in a sidewinder, don't trade by default, firstly look to see if there are any delivery missions(short haul) on the bulletin board - they'll typically be 2-5k credits for carrying one tonne(leaving you 3 to trade with) which will be a lot more profitable than just trading.
If there's no missions then go ahead and trade - there's a good tool out there to help you make the most out of your money and don't forget to keep enough money for ship insurance!(once you get out of the sidewinder)

    Useful tools:
    http://changodock.com/ - for hyperspace routes
http://elitebpc.com/ED/Default.aspx - for trade route profit calculations(the windows version is better but more complicated)

Do missions pay more depending on the starting station? The only one's I see that require 1 ton and are within my range pay no more than 500 credits.

Awesome links, thanks. Already had the 2nd one, and let's me plan exactly what to get at each station.
