I think there'll be a series of trigger events that will flag up an excessive number of deaths. This should be cross-checked with existing legitimate bounties, KDRs between combatants during that particular time and pretty much any other sense-check you can think of, with the added power of human brainpower to connect it all up and identify obvious griefing tactics, such as dock rape or spawn camping.
But yeah, Devs manually checking things out is the general message I get.
Dunno what Elite are doing, but Star Citizen says they'll allow the Devs to take action in an in-game way, such as playing a fleet of large Police ships to hunt down problem pilots.
Pretty much. The idea is the same as Freelancer, but instead of a small patrol of four Patriots chasing you a few miles, a full shedload of BIG ships you'd never survive come knocking and just blow you to pieces. You also potentially lose your ship, any insurance and all that.
I too have the latest Beta and its a lot of fun, playing on my 1080p 100" projected screen with 5.1 surround sound, but only using an Xbox 360 controller. Need to either find better mapping for it or upgrade to a stick, I have not owned one of those for many years.

Rather than start discussing flight stick options and going round in a full cycle, let me direct you to a thread on this very topic a fairly short while ago, click here for more details.
Have raised Paypal dispute to try to get a refund which I'll probably not get. 10 hours of repeated relaunches and diagnostics for 40 mins of intermittent buggy gameplay.
Now stuck with a Hotas gamestick I don't need. Expensive life lesson learned about backing products early. Might try something like Hawx just to get some use out of the thing.
Well you've got what you paid for, so trying to get a refund is a little harsh. If you were buying a finished game then you'd have something to go on I guess. But you haven't :/
Yep. 'beta' means they can laugh all the way to the bank.
Their support havn't got back to me with any of several bug reports in the past 48 hours. Seriously people, the beta is a bug infested mess. Strongly urge everyone to resist doing heart-over-head move of wasting £50.
Best case scenario is I've wasted £15 and the final game works. As it is I can't even beta test because the thing won't even start.
Never ever ever will i put anyting towards a kickstater type project again in my life.
what issue are you experiencing now? Mine seems to be running smoothly and the majority seem to have no issues which sucks for you so investigation needed .
Dont forget that the HOTAS can be used on any other game so I dont think you can blame them for you wasting cash on a hotas... try star citizen and check reddit for help as their ED section is really busy.
Their support have not gotten back to me in over 48 hours. Now on 5th reinstall as it sometimes works for a few minutes.
Just tried HOTAS with HAWX demo - works great but game sucks. I don't like flight sims so waste of money.
Star citizen? No way - never ever will fund any pay in advance crowdfunded scam again.
Would advise trying dcs but if you don't want simulation games then you will be disappointed by the arcade games as generally they are done poorly because the publisher wants a quick buck .
Is your setup the same in your system specs? I3 750ti? Should be fine, windows 7 64bit yeah? Seems supper odd the issues, is this just crashing at any specific points? Highly recommend you put a post on the reddit subreddit elite dangerous as they know their stuff and can probably help you a lot .
Would just say that 48 hours isnt that long, I find businesses take a week to reply so expecting them to reply with a fix in 2 days is hard especially with the game show event this week so they have been absolutely manic. Hopefully people can help you resolve your issue with Ed so you can be unburnt from crowd funding games as there are many brilliant games (Ed when it works unless its your system ) star citizen definitely has tangible content as well so I'd still recommend trying it when you fancy blowing a few bucks .
Good luck

Well a beta is where you take a game that doesn't work on everything and figure out what the problems are. Why you'd pay to be part of one rather than being paid, I don't know, but you're experiencing exactly what you should do - looking into systems where it doesn't helps you learn a lot more than systems where it does. You didn't think you were buying a game did you?
@wasabi: Have you posted about your game issues on Frontier Forums, the number of posts they are getting everyday on that forum is massive, I just clicked on the Quick Links>Today's posts and found that there were 408 new posts or 11 pages worth of new posts, which I think gives some idea of the number of people playing this beta.
While I understand your frustration with the issues your experiencing, I think that maybe you haven't really understood the scale of the issues that the FD team are dealing with, they must be getting 100's of tickets an hour and each ticket will need to be looked at by a small team of people who most likely would not be able to cope with the number of tickets coming through fast enough to respond to each ticket, however if the issue that you are having is an issue that someone else on the Frontier forums has encountered then you might be able to get a faster response from them or someone that can point you towards the thread where your issue has been resolved. I don't know how it works but I'm guessing each of the support guys would be looking at each issue as they see them and then assign some level of priority to determine how urgently that particular issue needs to be resolved, I think responses to resolved tickets may well end up being given in batches where a group of people with a similar issue can get a response all at the same time, but I don't know how that works, I'm just guessing. It's also possible that you didn't get an answer sooner as they hadn't found a way to resolve your issue sooner.
If, on the other hand, your issue is something that's unique to an issue with your PC or installation of Windows/OS, hardware issue or other issue that relate to a known or unknown pre-existing problem on your PC then the devs won't have time to deal with that as they have a hard enough job finding and removing bugs as reported through the tickets being raised in the beta version of the game. The members of the Frontier forum on the other hand appear to be more than willing and able to help identify whether it is software or system and then help guide people through the steps they need to take to fix the issue.
TL: DR - Try posting about your issues here.
