yes m8, it still crushed them together to make it stick no matter what way they were, takes an engineers eye to think "hang on a mo"
Hmm, I had them running into the grooves, but yeah, I thought that was how it worked - the ring tightens down on the spacers which tighten down on the leg...
Tbh, doubt you'd have wanted it for the f18s - high shutter speed to freeze the motion generally doesn't necessitate the use of a tripod. Even if you were to drag the shutter a bit in a pan, it's still very doable hand-held.

What kind of editing can I do to bring out the sun's rays some more? Maybe it doesn't need it. My netbook screen is fairly clear, but not what I'm used to with my desktop monitor. I should get rid of the bright spot in the foreground as well.

i would have, then climbed on top of the van if needs be to get some shots off but all the kit was 120 miles away :cry:

A pic taken whilst watching Scranton Wilkes Bar Yankees. Saw three games in america, I loved the atmosphere, enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Just wish I could have caught the shot with less blur on the bat and ball, but the games are played early evening so light wasn't good enough with my set up.
Being too hard on yourself there, nice shot!
Didn't get to comment on this one sooner, but I think it's a great photo in just about every sense! Texture, bokeh, colour, composition.

I've been editing some of my New Zealand photos on my desktop PC at home. There are still a few for me to go through but I'm tired now. I might be going back in a week or two. I'll take my Sigma 50-500mm next time because we might go to Tiritiri Island, a nature reserve near Auckland.

I had one photo in the sequence of them almost touching the water, but it misfocused.
I like making panoramas.
I've replaced some of the photos I've already posted with some tidied up versions.
I can highly recommend Tiritiri Matangi - lots of birds. You can stay overnight too (at least you could a few years ago) - we saw a kiwi in the wild.
