Like those Dave - surreal inky blackness to the pool but like the fishing boats best.

I know what you mean mate, the sniffer dogs and police helicopter really add something to the trip
and Dave, thats not a swimming pool, its a portal to another world!
Anyways, posting here because i recently got myself a camera, curently reading through a Dummies book for it (cos i am clueless on this), and hopefully out taking shots soon, learning as I go.
Its the Nikon D3100 18-55 kit, and its complicated lets hope I can do it justice
OK, I left it a couple of days, seems to be a bit quiet of late, so here are my other three Malta shots :

Mosta Church with one of the biggest unsupported domes in the world. Also, a WWII bomb fell on it and didnt go off, thus not killing the entire congregation ! Replica kept in back room. Four frame mosaic stitched in Photoshop.
Bad weather preventing outdoor stuff at the moment - so resorted to cat photos...
Think I might have to get myself an IR filter for Portugal this year. I just know a 77mm for the sigma 10-20 isn't going to be cheap!
[edit] I've noticed that Amazon has filters for 760nm and 950nm as well as the standard 720nm. These are much cheaper, but is the effect any different? Also, will any of these filters work properly with my 450D? It's the only one I've got, so conversion isn't an option.

will that work though ? as i know some DSLR's already have an IR filter so it may not work ?
Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
so, does anyone know if I can take IR photos with my 450D or not?

My church project has been taken with my Nikon D70 and D200 with the Sigma 10-20 and a 77mm 720nm, but you will need a tripod cuz they is long exposures. Dunno howe the 450 compares with either, Ive generally found that the newer the tech, the better the IR blocking filter, and hence the worse the IR performance unmodded. There is a place in UK but its £210 just for the mod and that doesnt include recal of the AF, but Pro Camera Repair in San Diego USA does it for £140 ish *including* AF recal with a std 18-70mm lens (in the case of my D70 anyway). They have a presence in ebay so check em out.
