Well, I'm still waiting for UK weather to be conducive to using my newly modded D70IR, so in the meantime, here's a picture postcard from Malta :
Lovely colours. Here's a test shot with the IR filter of my back garden. 30s exposure at ISO 400. Red is an understatement
OK Rugger - take a shot of green grass for manual white balance, that will counteract the red. Also, find more greenery to use as subject, that will show the colour changes better.
http://forums.hexus.net/photography-...-promised.html should help with settings etc.
Will give that a go. Should I save the grass shot as a custom white balance for the shoot?
I'll try and get out with it tomorrow if I finish work early enough.
No technical skill or international photography award for these shots, just a snapshot of a recent Harlequin Ladybird infestation.
During the colder months they live in the side of the sash windows (where the counter-weights hang) and as the weather warms up they all pour out over the axle pulley.
A dark one. Castle Stalker again. Huge squall coming in from the right as I took a 150 second exposure. Still almost blew out sections on the left.

Much better (IMHO)
Some new infrareds today with the D70IR, beautiful clear blue day.....
An old water tower (?) in Abington Park, Northampton, D70IR, plus orton and glow.
Brixworth Church, as above.
I've also uploaded a load more at Flickr, so take a peek in the sig if you like.

I'm definitely going to have a go at that one day Dave. Still trying to crack mono first.
The road to Buttermere.

Nice photos g8ina, but I'm wondering if they look soft or not. I'm no IR expert by any means, but do you lose clarify with an IR conversion?
A couple from my trip to Orlando.
Nukey-coloured m&m's from the "m&m's world store" at Florida Mall in Orlando
Apollo 14 Command Module when it returned from the moon at Kennedy Space Center. What an amazing day that was!
tfboy - quite right, they are a bit soft, I think I need to recal the AF on the D70 after it's modification. The USA company who did the mod were supposed to doa recal, but I reckon they forgot. All my shots on the cam so far have been on the Sigma 10-20mm at at least f8 to try and grab a bit more DOF to get in focus, but its not worked very well. Wish me luck ...
Here's a rarity from me, a portrait. I don't generally do too well with people, but this double bass player at Lichfield Cathedral looked so wrapt in concentration I couldnt resist. Colour image made mock IR with Orton fx.
I rather like this, but I'd be really interested to see if it works for you guys ?

I like it, but it does look a bit ghostly from his nose to his fringe!
Also, as for the comment about your images been soft, I quite like it, you probably lost a bit of definition, but I've always imagine IR to look soft, so to me they looked practically perfect!

Danny if you take another look at my Malta infrareds, you'll see they are pin sharp, as I used a home modded Sony P73A :

Its only cuz the job wasnt done properly that the shots using the D70IR are soft - or at least I think thats why. I'll try my other lenses later today to double check.
