    Not the usual Blue Screen

    Hi

I sent in a technical support query earlier today re the 19 DIGIMATE L-1935WD DVI LCD, thought I'd chance my arm on here as well.

I hooked up the monitor via VGA and the right hand of the screen looked a bit odd, switched to a black background and the right hand side is completely blue with one vertical strip of black down it.

I tried again this morning on my usual PC using my DVI and the same screen appears, it appears as a constant on the boot up screen too, but this time had two vertical black lines down the blue section and various pixels were flashing different colours. Green lines occasionally then appeared on the left hand 'normal' side and every image became distorted.

Are there any other things I can try, like I say I've tried both DVI, VGA and 2 separate PCs, or is it a duff monitor in need of replacing?

    Cheers.

Re: Not the usual Blue Screen

    Adidan,

The query is going to be dealt with in due course within 24 hours, but on a Monday they tend to have more than normal as they build up over the weekend and as such when they come in today there is a few to deal with.

I've alerted returns to the fact that this needs a reply ASAP and someone should assist you shortly with this via OLQ.

    Best Regards,

    Best Regards,
Cheers Lee, I did think after I posted that it's a Monday so I really was chancing my arm posting on here as well.

Thanks for letting me know though, much appreciated.

    I've received a reply
Further to your e-mail I can confirm that the quickest way in obtaining a replacement would be to contact the manufacturer directly via 0871 250 8000 as they would be able to provide the quickest turn around. If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Regards,

    Michael W
    Scan Computers
Surely this is not correct? I would prefer a more satisfactory answer before I return it and just ask for my money back.

    Please look into this ASAP.

Edit: Actually is this response an indication that there a general problem with the batch of monitors so you are directing people towards the manufacturer rather than back to yourselves?

Edit: Actually on the DGM website is says for customers to contact the supplier re returns, refunds or exchanges so the reply confuses me even more now.

Re: Not the usual Blue Screen

If you look at the majority of the monitors across the board and no matter who makes them they all generally have a 3 year warranty and after the inital DOA (Dead On Arrival) period they all show that the manufacturer handles the RMA process & collections themselves.

This is something of a unofficial standard across Monitors now as a whole and is generally better for the end user in regards to them having quicker turnarounds or even in some cases offering to doing a drop & collect where they collect the faulty monitor and replace it with an identical model or a similar specification model if the model that is faulty is no longer produced.

Where manufacturer's handle's warranty the customer can return to SCAN, in turn we will have to return to the manufacturer anyway and the whole process will take longer.

In this case you are within the 7 day period and therefore the Returns Manager has confirmed the monitor can be returned to SCAN for a replacement. I will have the query updated and an e-mail confirmation sent to you shortly,

    Sorry for any confusion caused,

    Best Regards

Re: Not the usual Blue Screen

Well, after the initial minor confusion I'd like to thank you for the service since.

The monitor RMA pickup from my house is due tomorrow which is very speedy, thank you for that.

Just one final quick question, I'm not particularly comfortable attempting to remove the base as it is connected by 6 plastic latches which will require at least 2 people to try and remove due to their nature.

I could attempt this when I have extra hands later on but I would prefer it if I could slightly adapt the original packaging so that it can fit back in with the base attached and be more secure for transit. Would this be acceptable?
