    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

So far my experience of DPD:

    - If they give you an ETA time slot, they'll turn up reliably within that time slot.

    - If they don't give you a time slot, but still say they are coming on a certain day, they probably won't actually bother turning up (my experience with an RMA collection ([had to chase it up a few times to actually get them to come]) and yesterdays delivery, which came today right at the start of the time slot)

We contacted DPD on your behalf who confirmed...

This was held at the depot in error yesterday, however it has been arranged to be delivered today 30/09/10 before 12pm.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused.

    Apologies for the delay.

    Best Regards

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

Placed an order lunchtime yesterday for the first time in a while. Got a 'stage 4' mid afternoon - that's an improvement on past experience when I've had to wait until evening to see if stuff is even going to get out of the door.

    Mail from DPD before 9 giving 12:33 - 13:33, delivered 12:52.

    Thank you.

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

I have to say that I like the new DPD/Scan delivery experience!

It's great to have the timeslot, had 2 come in the first few mins and one about 40 mins in (it was raining that day).
Good email and text options allow you to reschedule should you be unable to receive on the original day (haven't done this yet)

Can't comment on pickups as haven't needed to return anything recently (good!)

Hopefully other companies will learn from and emulate this trendsetting service!
    Well done & thanks!

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

The Other Site uses DPD, I got my first custom PC from them, it was pretty crap and ended up having to send it back after constant issues. *DPD lost the entire system.* Could not find it without a trace. Apparently some muppet on the handling line didn't put a label on it or something. This is about a year ago now, things may have changed hopefully. They actually did me a favour really, cos after that they had to refund me really, was like getting blood from a stone with O***

Make sure you keep the receipt for them collecting it is what I learned, glad I did and glad I chased them to make sure that it had arrived safely rather than waiting for word from them, I usually do it with companies and it really paid off that time... Could have been months til I heard anything otherwise or maybe even never. They searched all the warehouses and could not find it at all, so O*** refunded me the price at last. Don't know whether DPD coughed up.

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

Yeah City Link were worse I think, DPD seemed like one of those one off screwups that just happens (I hope anyway) but I still remember City Link taking a return system from Scan and pushing it down the stairs bump by bump because they were too cheap to employ two people to carry it properly (and refused help from me)... big steel Corsair 800D case with lots of breakable bits inside. Think mine only survived city link cos Scan do their packaging so well.

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

First order from Scan recieved today using DPD, never had a problem with Citilink but I guess I was lucky.

Got a sms around 10 last night with my time slot today of between 13:38 - 14:38, must say that I think that was a little late to be sent a sms (often in bed by then...)

Was getting worried this afternoon when DPD were no show - package finally arrived around 16:30 - think I'll have to buy something else from Scan and see if DPD can improve...

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

I have to say the problem I had with DPD before has kind of put me off reporting issues with my system because I really would not like to go through what happened before with DPD with my previous system (2 posts above) from a different company than Scan (it was O***, not saying the name so as to not give them advertising, people KNOW here, after joining this forum I read so much bad stuff about them) ... about 3 years later now I still have not heard what happened to that computer.

I'm glad I did a fresh install of Windows/updated etc before sending it to O*** to get 'serviced' so there was nothing useful to criminals on it. The way it just never showed up in their warehouse makes me wonder if that thing's at some delivery guy's house now, from the long telephone convos I had it seems without the computer tracking sticker they have no clue where where parcels are, there's no backup in place to allow for muppet errors like that. Or at least, there wasn't, I was wondering does anyone know if things have changed?

Scan, what would you do if DPD lost a parcel? I never heard anything more after talking with DPD and them saying they couldn't find it in their warehouses anywhere (not at the destination depot either), they ended up just passing me to O*** who refunded me, but it was really not on, if it was the average user who stores loads of personal details about them on their PC (passwords even!) then it would have been a lot worse for someone else. You should think about maybe putting up a warning or something to do that.

(As I said in my previous posts on this thread above, I think my new system from Scan only survived CityLink because Scan do their packaging so well. I'm not so worried about Scan as the low regard I have of both delivery companies! It wasn't an issue when I was originally enquiring about buying a system from Scan because a) they weren't using DPD then and b) I didn't know at the time that CityLink were bad too)

(P.S. Scan if you are interested, PM me and I can give you the details of the incident to ask DPD about to ensure it doesn't happen to anyone else)

DPD are prompt, I'll give them that. 7:30am delivery is a little too prompt though.

    Re: Impressed with DPD courier!

I received a delivery time slot of between 1954 and 2054 today, but the general consensus I have read is that last delivery for DPD is at 1730. I find it hard to believe that they deliver that late, especially when the driver would be 45 miles away from the depot. My usual experience with DPD is that they deliver around about 11am.

I guess this is me being cynical, but I think I would be right to assume this (rather expensive and fragile) package will not be here today. Instead, it gets to spend another 12 hours being bounced around the place.

My order has already been delayed due to Scan overselling stock, now it looks like there's going to be another delay. I understand that there can be hold-ups, but this "next day" delivery is quickly turning into quite a wait.

This will sound melodramatic, but this has been the worst experience I've had ordering online. I'm not angry, I'm not sitting here frothing at the mouth with rage, but I do feel extremely let down; especially as I used Scan on a whim because I wanted to try someone new. Regretting that decision big time.

I really, really want to be proven wrong.
