I just hope that the Mobo can take the Core 2 Extreme and the AC Freezer 7 Pro will be ok with said CPU.

Fitting to the mobo shouldn't be a problem (had a quick look earlier), I was more thinking if it would be ok for the Core 2 CPU's.

I think you will find a lot is to do with people running the board out of spec and/or heavily volt modding it. Intel make some of the most stable motherboards out there, but they have never been known for their ability to vastly overclock. This board overclocks fine for the casual overclocker, but the guys over at XS are not exactly what you could call casual.

Do you know what bios revision it shipped with? Apparantly you need revision 0502 or higher for it to work with Conroe. I think they might be shipping with 0401

The p5wdh will work with conroes out of the box but if you have an ES conroe that is only the time you will need to flash the bios. So if you have any other conroe apart from ES its good out of the box

Rev G/A 2.03 and above this is the phrase "Intel 04B and 04A" processors

    I hope this information helps

ASRock (and ATI) save the day, again (even if the scan item specs/description leaves something to be desired)

edit: or not.. as it's not dual channel memory??

Cool is this for definite? There's a post in this thread here that says you need 0502 but he could well be refering to ES.

That's a significant piece of news. The one thing putting me off the Asus was this talk of Conroes not POSTing on the earlier BIOSes.
