Haha i think if the PC is for a non gamer (see woman) then its fine! But if you ever get it back in your control, make sure you add some decent graphics to it! Im still investing in mine, as i havent bought a PC in years! Reserator1..mm

    Acidmax,
Have you got a microphone working on your system?

I've tried hooking up two different mono headsets and can only get the mic level to register if I hold the boom to my mouth and SHOUT.
    Tried microphone boost.
Couldn't find a more up to date driver than the one that came with the unit.

Will try again with a working cheapo Trust stereo headset, but not too optimistic.

Noticed that the unit issues a very low frequency vibration, that you can feel rather than hear. I'll try and stick some rubber under it.
Annoyingly the hard drive is is now not as quiet as other Samsungs that I've used before. Not had a 300Gb before.

    Cheers!
I'm thinking that I'll have to buy a sound card.
I notice that Scan have put in a soundcard and a graphics card on their 3XS T3...

Tried running Medieval 2 Total War on mine. Movies play beautifully, but too choppy and crashy in battles.

So, looks like I'm probably going to pop a video card in as well, but no hurry as it would just be nice to be able to play games when I'm visiting.

    Asus T3P-5G965

    Hi All

Sent a system spec off to scan for a prebuilt system using different parts and they recommended this to me. But, only 1 draw back is according to the specifications of it only has room for 2 hdds (3.5 bays) and 1 cdrom (5 bay), just to make you aware.

I know you will probably know this anyway, but just pointing it out.

hi, i was delighted to read about this barebone being released because i was about to spend twice as much on a shuttle SD37P2, which is not even as good as the T3.

i can't figure out a few things from the spec on the asus web site. hopefully someone can help.
what is the onboard graphics make and model? i'm hoping it will run vista aero, i'll probably just give the onboard graphics a go and see if they cut it, i don't play any games so if it runs aero then that's enough for me. i can always get a proper card later on.

also, the spec says it has 2 internal hard drive bays. are they both available or is one used up by the card reader?

    thanks
    tim

silly me, just noticed it is specified by the intel G965 chipset, X3000 graphics, and it supports Aero, great!

Wow Jine thats a lot of pics! This is the most documented on product on Scan forums! It seems like the Zalman Reserator1 would fit fine from the pics, thats great, i didnt have to open my case after all, thanks dude!

The fan gets REALLY noisy when it spins up on high, thanks to Core2 tho its a bit rare that it will end up on high unless you use the CPU at 100% for a long time. The cooler unit itself isnt great, but it gets the job done.

You can see all the 'empty slots' on the motherboard where they stripped out components. This system could have more potential..

anyone know what the 'eject' button does beside the card reader and i/o ports?? given that the T3 doesn't appear to come with a dvd drive, i can't imagine what it is supposed to eject.
in the pictures i've seen of the T3, the panel covering the dvd drive is removed, so it would seem to leave the eject button redundant, if it is intended for the drive?

The eject button is for the optical drive. Its just an extended button. Works quite well, didnt need any adjustments.

And also, there are 2 bays for HD's Remember, no RAID!

hi acidmax, thanks for the reply. seems strange to have an additional eject button, never seen that before! i guess i'll find out soon how it works.

i've picked out a 74gb raptor for my main drive, to run windows, program files, and working files, and then a caviar 500gb SATA-II (RE) for media storage and backup. the 500Gb obviously won't be as fast as the raptor but way cheaper per Gb and should be fine for non-intensive access. i also wanted to at least take advantage of the type II interface, even if the raptor type I drives still beat the pants off any SATA type II drives (ref: tomshardware / storage / charts). i have a lot of respect for the duty cycle of the raptor drives, so i don't mind the lack of RAID support.

i have my system ordered and am waiting a few days for it to ship now... i'll post comments on how my setup goes, what overclocking i get with a E6600 and crucial ballistix ram, and i'll see if it really runs vista without problems like ASUS claim.

Hello, its not an EXTRA eject button, the "orginal" one is hidden behind the plastic..

    I relly like this bbone..

One thing more, i think its possible to use a 3th HDD BEHIND the dvdslot on the upper level.. Maybe with some mods, but its possible anyway..

Im also planning on building a SMALL SMALL watercooling package inside.. the radiator on the front, a small modded s775 waterblock (have in mind that orginal s775 waterblocks dosent fit! the mountholes isent the same on BTX as it is on ATX..)

I bback with some more pics, and specs and things when i can afford something more (Right now i RELLY need a E6300 to even START the monster ^^)... If anyone got one to sell relly ceap, Mail me at Jine5k[at]gmail.com!

    Regards, Jim
