    be carefull, that calculator has one major flaw (which is clearly admits to) and that is that it doesnt take into consideration the loading individual rails. So u could have a PSU that is over the recommended level but one or more of the 12V rails may be completely underrated when it comes to how many amps it can safely provide

    well it could be an amperage problem or even a faulty 12v Rail.

    may be worth unplugging everything apart from the graphics card and see if it has the same problems with the boot screen.

    it will not be drivers if the boot screen is also looking wrong.

    also, remove the card and re seat it in the slot, could be a connection problem.

    edit

    the PSU has 2 12 rails ratres at 15 and 16 amps, the card needs a 450W with 30A as a min (under load) even if it isn't a PSU problem I would advise you to upgrade.

    Thats odd, I have the same mobo, memory and a 7950GT with active cooling (rayk's is passive), pluss I have more fans and twice the number of harddrives yet my somewhat dated 480W Thermaltake butterfly never gives me any problems. The enermax in question has two 12V railes each rated at 18A @384W which is better than mine.

    Anyways, sure we can get it sorted out tonight

    Oh well, pretty conclusive last night (cheers D3fiant )

    OK, the GFX card is definately knackered. Swapped for D3fiants and all worked OK. Then tried D3fiants PC with my card and hey presto, same problems I was getting.

    Looks like an RMA is needed.

    Cheers for your help everyone.

    Sorry to hear it's the graphics. If you pop me a PM with the query number you first log it on I can add some notes to say what you've done and leave some links and info for the technical guys.

    Best Regards,

    Just to clarify we both recently bought very similar systems from Scan, rayk's was;
    Abit AB9 Pro
    XFX 7950GT XXX
    2GB DDR2 667
    E6400

    Mine was;
    Abit AB9 Pro
    Leadtek 7950GT
    2GB DDR2 667
    E6600

    When he boots he gets severe breakup at POST, almost looks like venetian blinds, then its OK for the controller POST screens (i.e. JMicron and Sil) then same breakup on the windows XP initial screen followed by BSOD. A boot to safemode seems to cure as does a reboot (not always). Its very weird but since this occurs at POST it cannot be driver related. I would say a VGA firmware problem or dodgy card. When we put my card in his machine, no problems, when we put his card in my PC, exactly the same problem.

    I hope you guys can get his RMA turned around pretty quick as I have made recommendations for Rayk and others recently to buy this config and to use Scan so I feel partly responsible.

    Thanks for your response and help Lee, much appreciated

    OK, I am reviving this thread as it has all the info on it.

    I have a new GFX card now Leadtek 7950GT. Still getting the same problems.

    Friend bought round his PC which is identical hardware.

    I have tried swapping memory and no change.
    We then swapped GFX card, here is where it is weird. His card in my system all, all problems dissapear. My card in his machine and HE then gets my corruption and BSOD issues. Surely this has only one outcome. Both of our GFX cards are identical and both also have AB9 Pro mobo.

    SURELY THE GFX CARD IS FAULTY.

    Please, this is not making any sense.

    Scan guys, what are my options here????? I have already RMA'd one GFX card and Scan tested and reported NFF!!!!

    Any Ideas???

    Should I return everything so it can be tested together????

    I am getting really hacked off with it now. I have spent more than £600 upgrading all the vital components and i have not had a working PC since day one.
