I'd resist for at least 2 reasons:

    1) it's from OCUK
    2) WAIT FOR THE 4870X2 man!!!

I know, friends only let friends order from ocuk if they actually secretly hate them

And giving them an order is a bad idea, they couldn't even get my order of "item code: **** off" right, I got a box containing a rusty bike chain in the post 3 weeks later....
    *

*that is a complete lie, I got charged but never received a parcel and had to complain till I was blue in the face to get a refund

The only time I would ever order from OCUK again is if they gave ME 10% of every item price, so if it costs £100, they give me the item and £10..... etc

    4) You'll be paying a premium for it because its just out, wait a month or two, or even wait for the 290GTX to come out, that'll make the 280GTX better value

I admit there not allways the cheapest but when they have been i have used them and never had any problems at least 5 orders. Which i have to admit is better than my experience with scan. not that this has put me off using scan customer service has allways been very good and friendly just wish they had not screwed up in the first place. OCUK just seems to be the favourite whiping boy in the forums at the moment.

The thing to bear in mind is the HD4870X2 force nVidia to be a bit more realistic in pricing. If they're not I might well go that route instead.

10% off every item wouldn't make them normal prices in most cases from what I've seen

Why all the hate for overclockers? I've honestly never had bad service off of them, nor has my brother or dad.

Although I they have'nt sent me a 10% off email yet so I might learn to hate them...

Experience, personally in my case. I assume others have had similar.

Thats just it. Generally speaking the people who are happy with them are those fortunate(?!?) enough not to have to deal with them form a customer support perspective.

In essence not great prices and the post sales support is far from customer orientated.

I know OcUk very well, from the day they started up. And the lanky man himself was on the other end of the line. When the golden age of Celeron overclocking was upon us (ohhh those were the days *sigh* ).

Re: Overclockers UK Welcome back offer

I've got the welcome back email. It says:

"We haven't seen you in over 12 months, so here's a gift from OCUK."

I haven't used them in over 12 months (it's actually been much longer then that) because I've been buying from ebuyer, dabs and scan instead...

Choose to ignore what we tell you and when you do work out why many of us don't like them we won't be very sympathetic.

What I got from them wasn't what I'd call bad service, describing used items as new and claiming that used items with accessories missing are "OEM" is not bad service it is far worse. If anybody from Overclockers is reading this, I'd like you to know that sticking a sticker with a "new" SKU over one with a "B Grade" SKU on does not make the "B Grade" item new.

Re: Overclockers UK Welcome back offer

I've only used them when a) there was minimal chance I'd ever have to return my purchase and b) I was mentally unwell

They're perfectly happy to take your money but completely uninterested in providing customer support. I wouldn't even let my worst enemy buy from them.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Re: Overclockers UK Welcome back offer

Used Overclockers a lot and my whole new system was bought from there as they seem to be the only place left in the UK with decent shuttle stock. Can't say I've ever had a problem with em. Even when the last batch of memory was faulty, they sent me a label to send the items back so it didn't cost me a penny.

I must admit that I have had faulty parts from Scan but they always get sorted out very quickly, though I order lots of parts and this is true of most companys I deal with.

Last time i ordered from Overclockers I ordered a heat sink/fan for my ATI9800Pro(128MB) a few years ago and it stated on their website that it worked with my card but it was for a different version of my card (256MB) (also clearly stated this on the box). On calling them to inform them it would not fit on my card I was asked: Why did you not research your product before ordering it?. I responded: Because it clearly states on your website that it works with my card.

After about 10 minutes of arguing I was accused of not understanding what I had ordered and insulted several times. Getting a refund took over a month and I remember having to get trading standards involved in order to recover my postage costs.

As my experience goes I would never order from Overclockers again and still feel very bitter a few years on.
Oh I forgot to mention it took them over 2 weeks to change the description on their website.

& I have no welcome back email, though might have hit the spam filter

Re: Overclockers UK Welcome back offer

According to their forums they are also offering FREE DELIVERY to all loyal OCUK forum members with 250 or more posts so that coupled with a 10% off code could make somebody a tidy saving.

Pity I ONLY have 150 posts on the OCUK forum though and wasn't "lucky" to get a 10% discount code ... my am I glad I have missed out on this particular OCUK offer.

They MUST be struggling though I guess ...
