overclocker's prices are an absolute joke, it costs £5 for one of those akasa tidy kits whereas on scan you can get 100 200 mm cable ties for £1, or the same akasa kit for £2.30 or so!

I think like all retailers, prices will vary.
One product may be cheaper at scan while another at overclockers.
Just depends...
though saying that the delivery options at overclokers puts the price up a bit sometimes
"......the forums are run by Hitler youth!!"
Second that statement.

I and my friends have never had a problem with OCuk. Of course, after hearing about the problems I decied to investigate, and their does appear to be a lot of evidence ridding against them.
Still, like I said, me and 2 of my friend regularly order computer components from Scan, OCuK, ebuyer, novatech, caseking.de... hmm maybe that last one isn't really a common place to order things... anyway, and I always find that I need to shop around. I find that, overall, Scan are cheaper, but OCuk ofter a few items (usually key items) cheaper, even when you account for shipping.
I am still a bit nervous at ordering from them now, but sometimes I don't have a choice... Fortunatly I won't have to order off them again for a while. The Edimax router I want is on Scan now.

From what I can tell, they have seemed to have improved a lot over the past year or so.
I have ordered from OCuk once, because they had the board (POV330/ION) I wanted to buy and where listed as the distributor for it in the UK on the POV. That will teach me though within a week there were available elsewhere in the uk for 30 quid less than the OCuk price, I paid a 20-25% premium for 5 days *SIGH*. On the plus side I am very happy with the board. It forms my firewall/web computers. I do think they are kind of expensive and the forums are filled with unhappy people.
Never had a single issue with OcUK
Their support was spot on when they sent out the wrong memory, I have ordered full systems worth of parts and they arrive on time and never a problem.
I will use them in future to. Only reason I actually went to OcUK again was due to Scan dropping all stock for Shuttle systems. Straight to OcUK and got the full whack there and then without a problem.
It's funny though as OcUK suffer from the Vista syndrome, a lot of noise about how bad they are and the world and its dog jump on the band wagon.

I've had a few trouble free purchases from them, but on the last time my bank phoned up and blocked the order - it told me the website has poor security checks for purchases and was it really me making the order? Since then I've looked elsewhere for my hardware and either Scan or Novatech get my trade.
I doubt there's a single large retailer of just about anything, anywhere in the country, that hasn't has customers that have been disappointed or upset, and felt abused and mistreated. It doesn't necessarily follow that the consumer was in the right in the first place though. It's not unknown for customers to try it on, to try a scam over "faulty" goods, and every retailer knows it. You've just got to try to work out when they are and when they're genuine. Inevitably, some part of negative opinion about OcUK is just sour grapes, but I've known several people that have had problems with them where it appears to be a genuine grievance over bad service. But by that same token, Scan have a general reputation for good service, but I'm sure there are people that would disagree .... and some of them regularly post about it, here and elsewhere.
When people don't get what they want, they tend to regard it as bad service, whether that's justified or not.
As for the forums being run by "hitler youth", oh please.
I used to be one of the people running their forums. So did the founder of Hexus. Some number of times, I got accused of being a nazi, usually because I was enforcing the forum rules .... on one occasion, against a pair of posters who appeared to be well-plastered, and thought it was funny to go about using the F-expletive repeatedly .... and I mean, dozens of times. So I and another moderator deleted said posts and told them to stop doing it, only to receive a torrent of abuse and threats of personal violence.
So when you see moderators acting in a way that you don't like, stop and consider that there may well be (and usually is) more to the situation than you know about.
Forums have rules. We do, and OcUK do. If you obey the rules, you'll rarely have problems. If you don't, expect to be dealt with by the mod team. It applies here, and it applies at OcUK. I hope we have a fairly laid back approach here, most of the time, and that "dealt with" will usually involve a lighter touch. But either way, if you don't break rules, you'll rarely have problems.
As for what the personal opinions of anyone at OcUK might be, I gave no idea, having not been there for years. But I seriously doubt it amounts to "hitler youth", and that type of terminology is just plain offensive, and not desirable in threads on here.
Got scammed out of £110 from OcUK. Thought they were great before and didn't understand the universal hate towards them. I do now though.
Scan, eBuyer and Chilled PC get all my orders now. However, i tend to buy secondhand on OCN and TPU.
I ain't bought from them since March 28th. No offers though
