This is related to this thread I think.
I've always been largely pro OCUK, as by and large, over the last eight years or so they've been good to me.
But recently I had my faith in them somewhat shaken.
The reviews accompanying their products may very well be genuine but what you may not realise is the vendors of that online store can be selective in which reviews they choose to publish.
I submitted this review for an Asus D2X pci-e Xonar Sound Card in mid July which is kinda self-explanatory:
They didn't publish it.This is the best sounding card I've ever owned but be aware at least 2 Bethesda game titles won't work with it: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3.
Both games freeze the computer with the sound card oscillating after between ten and thirty minutes play.
I have tried all of Asus' drivers and both games are fully patched. Very disappointing.
Also Call Of Juarez patched for DX10 won't work with this card either. All other games I've tried so far work well with the Xonar D2X pci-e.
My brief specs: Asus P5B; Core 2 duo 6600; BFG 9800GTX; 4Gb Corsair 8400. Vista SP1.
If you can put up with those shortcomings the card, imo, sounds superior to my old Creative X-Fi Gamer.
I've spent thousands with them over the years including a £1200.00 i7 build earlier this year and as I mentioned they've always - with one exception - been good, rma's and all.
But this has caused me to part company with them and bid them a not so fond farewell.
From now on my preferred computer parts e-tailers are, in order of preference, Scan; E-Buyer; Kustom PC's; Chillblast; Aria.
I think OCUK have shot themselves in the foot, not that they probably give a monkeys...
