    Anyone bought from Ginger6 ?

This is another one that keeps coming up on searches with unrealistically cheap prices on certain things. I notice they have a forum, but there is only 1 post on it i think

Anyone bought anything from here and received it? comments on the service etc?

Never bought but I do recall a fairly lengthy article some time ago in the (now dead) CTO paper. They were defiantly a pile high, sell cheap setup that (according to the article) was doing well. The article would have been about a year ago, not much help, sorry.

Cheers mate, Im just trying to get a list together of what is bogus and what is legit, there seems to be a shedload of sites popping up that sell cheaper than the rest, but not many people have heard of them/bought from them.

If anyone has bought from them, please leave your thoughts here.

Given the incredibly low spec case/power supplies used......and the barebones spec of the basic configs, they don't seem particularly cheap to me.

Could probably put together a decent base unit for just as little yourself.

my dad bought one from ginger6 back when they were using ebay to sell, probably in about 2000.

spec was good at the time, and price must have been okay, because i wouldnt have let him buy it if i could have done it cheaper.

the machine is still going today, albeit in bits spread over various machines.

it was built on cheap components, but did the job.

    iirc it was an

    cheapest akasa cooler on 2000xp
    execlstore hdd
    pcchips 810lmr mobo
    unbranded ram
    basic dvd drive
cheap but quite good quality case and psu combo

all the bits except the psu are in use today... infact i may have replaced the mobo for an msi km4m aswell just on the principal of it being a better board...

    Thumbs up Re: Ginger6

I have purchased a system from Ginger6 in the past. To be honest, they had been very helpful. One of the reasons they are cheap is that I think its a home based business. Its a husband and wife who works together. Wife does the admin job and husband is the techy and system builder.
    Overall they are very good.

They are not a home business, they work out of an industrial unit,

they are honest, down to earth people that have helped me out many times,

I had to collect some parts from them not so long back, the boss, Kevin stayed behind so that i could collect them that night (on a Friday!)

Before anyone thinks that I work for them, I am just giving praise where it is due, I am glad to have a retailer fairly close to my doorstep instead of having to go to computer markets.

They are based a few minutes from me, but I've never bought from them.

What are they selling cheap that interests you, Clunk?
