Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home

I'm running a couple of the clients on the servers at work (if you dont tell, i wont) and one of those is a windows 2k8 box. Its just running the standard cpu client rather than the smp since it is a virtual server but it is running fine.

Just took a look at my points. 1 week and I'm hitting 23000. Was running the pc 24/7 but its a power beast so the smp core runnings while it downloads files/ bit torrents and the gpu client is running whenever I'm not gaming. Apart from that, I have 3 servers and 2 work desktops folder 24/7 at the moment.

Been away from the PC / SETI scene after a catastrophic PC failure (and a lack of funds)

    How do the points work?

I have done 51 WU, but there is someone just above me on points who has done ~22, and then you go up the chart and there are people who have done 19 WU just below people who have done 100s

    i dont get it

Each WU has a different points rating, and each client has a different bonus ranking, webby did a great post on F@H points, ill try and dig it out

Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home

    Hi,
I'm a new user...I've got my lappy running th smp client. Would I do better to run 2 regular clients instead, or is that an old issue that has since been fixed?

Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home

I think it depends on your processor. Dual or quad cores - I would go with the smp client. Single core - just the standard one.

I've only been going for a few months, and on a single core client only (the SMP eludes me...), and i'm up to 69th in the Hexus list already. Next stop - to pass the main-Hexus machine

Nice! Does it take you about 1Day to do a unit? My units are massive at the moment take about 1d 16hr to complete.
