The whole point about the mac mini is that it's aimed at PC switchers, therefore they can re-use their old peripherals with the new machine.

Yes that is true but if you buy the memory from Crucial and fit it yourself ( 512MB for £50 ) then you will have a nice spare stick of Ram that can be used in a 2nd comp or sold on eBay.Originally Posted by Doug
I hear what you're saying but I think it's a little naive - I think what apple are really doing is just trying to get more profit by up selling... On the face of it the lowest spec emac is better value than the mini (though obviously it also lacks the mini's main selling point)Originally Posted by Stoo
if you subtract the cost of the OS, you are getting a lot of hardware for 229 quid IMHO.Originally Posted by malfunction

Hey
from reading some of the notes on the keynotes it says that iLife and iWorks will be included on ALL new macs, does that mean it comes included on the Mini Mac? as if it does its screaming to be bought even more!
Rich
Oh come on... The cost of the OS? How many copies of the OS does apple sell without a machine? And I'm not trying to say it's bad value - I just think it's tight to not include a keyboard and mouseOriginally Posted by DaBeeeenster
If you dont want a mouse and kb then it's bad value to include them. This way you get a choice.Originally Posted by malfunction

No mention of iWorks on the apple website and for this price, dont assume its included either.Originally Posted by titchard
it will ship with the new version of iLife, but not iWorks. This can be bought separately for £49 from apple store.

cheers
just in the keynotes it was said iWorks is included on all macs

Just noticed that the Apple Keyboard is £19... a bargain at twice the price!
Specs say Appleworks and iLife included, iWork not mentioned. Must've been a mistake at the Keynote?
Part of the reason (excepting cost which is number 1 factor) the MM doesn't include K/M is that is ships in a really weeny box. Cheap postage, cheap freight, cheap packaging, etc, etc...smaller than a normal iPod box (not that I own an iPod or have seen a box lately to know how big it is).
Well Hello!
Lots of nice pics...looks like air intake all round the bottom then out at the back. Wonder what size heatsink is going over the G4? And if anything goes on the R9200 at all??

Apparantly the Rad 9200 won't run CoreImage, and won't be able to run the 3D effects Tiger will use.
