No, because I tried that before using the resistors, and found it didn't work.

I still have them grounded now, but am unsure as to whether it's making any difference. I would think not. Still, I had two wires left on the CAT5 network lead I used as "monitor cabling" so it was no effort for me to wire it up.

which pin did you ground them to?

and is it possible to seperate the circular PCB from the back of the LCD?

I intend to make a freestanding perspex stand so it will look like a mini Apple screen for my shuttle.

There is a ribbon about 2cm long from the LCD to the PCB - it's removable only at the PCB end, and you won't be able to extend it, so the PCB must stay attached to the LCD I'm afraid.

As for grounding - I just read the pinout for a VGA socket and used some of the grounds on there - 6, 7 or 8 I think, can't remember which.

I do not know how much postage costs outside the UK so that is something you will have to find out. Postage could be a lot so it may be better if you can find someone locally to do it for you.

For doing it yourself really there is not much to do. To sum up what needs to be done: (for detail read back through this thread and the bit tech thread):

    psu reg circuit
    mounting in case
solder female vga connector to lcd with dummy resistors
    attach to pc
    fiddle with timings in powerstrip
set up software to display on it
await driver fix so screen doesnt mess up playing games
I think i should be able to make one myself then. ( and i don't trust the bastards @ the post office with LCD screens! )

Tnx for all the help so far. You'll hear from me when i'm ready to make one myself

Yay! £20 screen from comet (if you go into the store rather than get it from their website). Now I can get one at a reasonable price . Just one question tho, how do i go about powering the thing? I don't have a PSOne, so no AC adapter, and can't find a car power adapter in town. Anyone know where i can get a reasonably cheap adapter? Or is it cheaper to make my own?

Well it says "check that you have the following" but I think they are assuming you already own a PSOne and so have that AC adapter, because there's a through connector from the screen to the console. Can anyone who has actually bought one tell me any different?

Unhappy Do I need resitors with G200 via serio mod as well?

Hi, following you previous conversation on the importance of 75 ohm resistors would you pls. comment on the issue whether it's likely to be compatible with a matrox millenium g200 card? I'm fiddling with the serio's mod without success so far - only green display for past couple of days. As you know there is a great source of info on psone vga mod at http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...t=26080&page=2
    (details of my setup)

but still no go for me. There is so much confusion info around. Some psone vga mods claim that the resistor way is only for nvidia's and dual-head use application and others say that serios without resistors won't work..
Can finally anyone shed some light on this please :@ )

Get power strip, see if that g200 card supports composite sync and interlacing.

If it doesn't, you're in for a tough time..

As for the resistors, you just need that if the card isn't detecting the LCD and using it. I've not had any other problems.

Kez> thanks for you prompt reply. Well g200 supports composite sync and interlacing that's why it has been choosen by the mp3car community and others (above in my link) however I'm probably still missing some important bit of info because I can get only evenly lit green color after setting 640x480 in powerstrip - so I was wondering if anybody here has got g200 fully functional and how -> using resistors (which are not present in serio's lcd mod description) or some other additional hack. Thanks for any tip..

Just a one option I didn't explore - I'm using a vga cable which was supplied with my other 15" lcd equiped pc - is it possible that this (lcd) vga cable itself might caused that..? I'm buying another cable as soon as possible, just
    a thought..

Can some one give me the maplin code to the correct type of 75 ohm resistor, there are so many types

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Products/Mod...duleNo=11&MR=N

    and

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/products/mod...2&Products=265

    k means 1000ohms.

You want something in the region of 75R (75 resistance.) I asked at the counter for 80ohm, but got 40ohm (40R) instead - they still work though.

Mesuge: Check the wiring - if all you're getting is a green display something must be wrong. Also check, if it's a secondary display, that it's enabled properly within windows/the driver.

looks like i will have to make do with a 68ohm resistor or should i use 100ohm ?

Maplin only seem to carry 750 ohm resistor and don't appear to have anything between 68R to 100R
