Yeah the minimum load current of the LM317 is something like 10mA, so I doubt it would be that, it was just a thought I had as it has been a problem for me in the past

Ive got nochex, not sure if you would have that where you are?
Possibly send me cash (must be english £ though, not other currency) if thats easyer?

The actual soldering and stuff is quite easy. if you want to try yourself get a few cheap components like resistors and some wire and strip board/dead card and practice on that untill you are good at it..
Let me start by thanking you for even relpying.
I was unable to check the forum for a bit of time because i killed my CPU (not intetionally got a new one now though.)

SilentDeath, about you making me one I would like to know what you want for it . ( including all expences ) I will try to find what the postage costs are.
I can send you ££££ easily. But maybe it'd be faster / safer if i were to send it through a bank.

If it's gonna get to difficult to send me one, I'd be happy to try and make one myself. But I'd need to know Exactly how to. ( preferrably without scary things like resistors. ) I can get all the parts. But i don't have a very precise small soldering Iron. (just a quite big one. Something like this

That's the sort of soldering iron I have, basically.

If you got the car-kit for the screen, and plugged it in using TV-Out, you'd have to do very little modding. Just chop the cigarette lighter socket off from the car kit power adapter, and wire it to a molex in the computer...

The only thing is the screen itself... leaving in it's case and putting it somewhere, or taking it out...

I can just get it out of the casing an stick it to a panel. If i don't jerk any wires out i should be fine.

But because i recently (day before yesterday) killed my CPU. I had to get a new one. And that kinda got me a drain on funds ... Should be able to get one soon enough though.

Would you think that it's possible that i can stick the screen in the place of 2 3.5" Bays, since i don't have a floppy drive (useless things)

You need 3 3.5" bays - two won't be big enough. Also the bays must be in the centre of the tower (left to right that is) as you have to consider the extra width of the PCB.

edit: Can I know ask what the best program is for displaying system information - temps etc. I want nice and big - fullscreen infact.

samurize is crappy. I cba using it and dont really see the point tbh in having stats showing. Winamp is a much better use of your screen, esp when playing games.
Problem is as I said abouve though - when two ouputs at different res's on ati cards (probably nvidia ones too) and one is d3d or ogl apps, the second display will get moved slightly onto the first and mess up the first screen.

If your wondering why I have not been updating this, its becuase Im awaiting this to be fixed in the next driver release (I think it probably will be, *hoping*), and becuase I have loads of other stuff to do. give me a week or two and my lcd screen will be finnished with pics

Frantic for a finnished screen, moded to vga, all soldering done, with 12v power, I would ask for around £55, depending on components I would need to buy. This is just a rough guess. This price is same for anyone that wants one, you will have to add postage costs and any costs to this. I do not know how much postage costs outside the UK so that is something you will have to find out. Postage could be a lot so it may be better if you can find someone locally to do it for you.

For doing it yourself really there is not much to do. To sum up what needs to be done: (for detail read back through this thread and the bit tech thread):

    psu reg circuit
    mounting in case
solder female vga connector to lcd with dummy resistors
    attach to pc
    fiddle with timings in powerstrip
set up software to display on it
await driver fix so screen doesnt mess up playing games

Was looking on ebay and there are quite a few peeps selling this Spectravideo LCD screen for PSONE. Does anyone here have experience of its use - same as official one - as easy to mod into PC?

I just bought an Official PSone screen for £25 for comet.

This will be used on a Radeon 9800 Pro via a VGA.

Does some one have the schematics for which pins on the PCB i need to solder to which VGA pins ?

Will i need the 75ohm resistors?

    http://www.kickassamd.com/modules/mo....php?storyid=1 - the article.

You will need the resistors (I'm actually using 40ohm although the guy was supposed to give me 80ohm ones) if you are running it as a secondary display on a dual head card.

That article is good, but doesn't mention the resistors.

I will be running a standard TFT off the Radeon DVI port and this PSone off the VGA port as an extended monitor (hopefully). Does this count as Dual Head ?

Also is there any solution to get the screen to turn on when the PC does, if i connect the VGA pin 9 DCC to the Psone pin 8 this should solve the problem?

Yes you'll need the resistors. Each one from pins 1 2 and 3 to 6 7 and 8 respectively (basically grounding the RGB signals with some resistance to trick the card into thinking there's a whopping great monitor on the end.

The screen won't turn on unless there's the DCC signal, so you will indeed need to wire that up.

    So I will use

VGA red pin 1 >>> PSone Pin 11
VGA green pin 2 >>> PSone Pin 12
VGA blue pin 3 >>> PSone Pin 9
Vga red ground pin 6 >>> PSone Pin 8

Vga blue ground pin 8 >>> PSone Pin 8
    DCC pin 9 >>> PSone Pin 10
    Hsync/Csync pin 13 >>> PSone Pin 5

    and also

    VGA pin 1 > 75ohm > VGA pin 6
    VGA pin 2 > 75ohm > VGA pin 7
    VGA pin 3 > 75ohm > VGA pin 8

where the pins are as this drawing shows

do i need to do anything with VGA pin 11 and VGA pin 4 ?

Starfox's Serio project says tie pin 11 and 4 to ground to get the card to detect the monitor. Is this an alternative to using the resistors.
