Thanx for that info.....I'm trying with both composite or VGA, but getting no luck at all.

I'll see how I get on with some different connectors for the composite try, and then with some resistors for the RGB try.

    OK...

PC TV-out socket > the supplied connector from the GFX card which splits into S-vid or composite > composite cable > composite to mini jack converter > LCD

Silent have you got a voltage reg circuit working?

I'll be constructing one this week and some maplin part numbers would be handy!
    PHP Code:

    kez - not really
Ill be trying a LM317T later when I can be arsed.
This is basic circuit, google for a better one.. http://www.mitedu.freeserve.co.uk/Ci...ower/lm317.htm
You need to set the output with a multimeter. The output might vary under load (although I assume it wont as its designed to regulate...?)
They are cheap and dont need many parts, but a normal fixed output regulator would have been nicer (as its the only needed part).

Pls remind me is 1nF bigger or smaller than 1uF?

another way is using a 9.1v zerner diode, maplin number QF52G. 9.1 is slightly too high. 0.7v will be dropped from the B-E junction, giving 8.4v, then using another diode (not a zerner this time, 1N4001 should do) dropping it by another 0.7-1.1v to 7.3-7.7v, which is perfect..

also see here on how to use the lm7805 http://www.mitedu.freeserve.co.uk/Ci.../Power/vvr.htm

uF - micro farrad, nF nano farrad, I think nF is smaller IIRC.

edit: Yeah it is - think CPU cores, 0.9u (microns) is the same as a 90nanometre core.

Cheers Silent I'll take a look.

makes more sense now... heres another lm317 schematic looks almost same.
    edit - HERE
Any one took the lid of the psu cube for it? im finding it almost impossible to get off... anyway I think the circuit inside might be useable to regulate from around 12 as thats probably the output voltage of the transofrmer inside.

just opened the psu cube WITH A DREMMEL!!! bloody psu case couldnt they make them easyer to open????????????????????????

It has a large capacitor + small ones, a transformer 4 diodes (for rectifing probably), and two TO-220 style chips, probably regulators of some kind. Unfortunatly all the specs are on the sides hidden from my view.

the transformer has written on it:
    MP-130B 1801
    SMT-25H-NB238
    DC6M12 0239( 01 )

Im not sure what this means although I think it might be 240v in 25v out, which sounds right.

The psu was of the switching type, meaning none of the to-220 things would be at all usefull, and niether would msot of the other parts...

I didnt intend to ever use this psu cube again, so have now desoldered usefull parts, capacitors diodes etc...
