Re: From Pro Evo to Fifa

Got my copy of PES in hand, confirmed by me, a video games player of 20 years, and IGN, to be the most fun of the 2 main footy games this year.

Now time to stop bickering about it and start playing it.

    Laters!

yes fun, like how Jodie Marsh is a 'fun' girl and Natalie Portman isn't.

You think PES2008 was the best in the PES series? Like seriously?

    Yes!

My opinion only, but offline it provides the best game of football.

And i can carry on with Derby in Europe.

Be quiet now. You make no sense and you are certainly not funny.

And FIFA *is not* your baby.

If you'd said this at the start I'd have not wasted time trying to reason with you.

Even PES uber fan boys admit that 2008 was the weakest of the series, SeaBass got death threats over it ffs.

Thats as the online element was so bad it was unplayable. As i said before i don't play online so missed the issue.
You just go back to playing that perfect game where defenders can't head, players forget to pass, you can't always select the player closest to the ball and attackers from the lower leagues are programed not to score..............ever

Re: From Pro Evo to Fifa

Well just played through the champions league stuff on PES, overall all good fun, some little things though, attention to detail mainly. Things like the points total for your group being on the left... the go on the right, after wins, draws, losses, goals scored, etc.

Getting caught offside but the play not stopping until you touch the ball, rather than when you are actually offside (which is when the ball is played)

When I won the Champions League the commentator said I was 'the cup champions'... but they have the full licence, riiiight...

And if John Champion says 'here comes the secondary threat' once more, I'll do a karate rape on him.

    Still it was enjoyable.

It doesn't play like the demo that much.
I'm gonna play it some more but the ball sticks to the players feet, they improved the defence AI but when you have the ball the players in your team don't make the runs or move they way they used to.
Lots of standing still. Tryed to use RT to make the players run but you need a 1 - 2 for that.
And why is it Theo Walcott can't out pace anyone?

And the become a legend mode, what a farce. you spend all your time playing in training games with the reserve team against the first team. so aswell as loosing every match as the other teams far better, you hardly get the ball and even rearer score a goal while not going near the first team game after game.

Think i'll give football games a miss this year, i don't particuly like either. Might have to ebay then both or flog them at work.
Damn, i was sure i'd like at least one
Having played it for quite a few hours now:

General gameplay is pretty good, although the goalies rarely save close up shots. It is better than previous versions on the gameplay side offline.

The Become a Legends mode is fairly good - it is quite difficult but I broke into the first team and scored the most in the league in the first season. What annoys me is the Legends online mode though - me & a mate wanted to play 2v2 using Legends characters and you cant do it, you can only seemingly play vs the computer online (so 2/3/4vsCOMP) which to be honest, sucks quite a bit. Also if you pull off moves online these should, imo give you some benefit in the offline version.

The normal online mode (2v2 etc) is better than PES 08. There is less lag and its pretty slick generally. However - why the hell have Konami removed in-match chat ?! All you can do is use the pre-chosen phrases and half of these are random japanese smilies ffs. Seocndly there is still a bit of lag - playable, but not as good as PES6 connection wise. PES6 was also easy to type in the matchroom and look at the options etc. PES09 has a poor layout as you need to press R3 to get into the chat section.

In my opinion, compared to PES6, it's one step forward and one step back.

However, as you cant play Fifa 09 2v2 online, I guess its the only choice.

Re: From Pro Evo to Fifa

I am a PES stalwart from the SNES days, and have had every version. It was the best game then, and it's the best game now playability wise.

The only downside is the lack of licences and the rubbish music.....but modifying it to have reral kits and applying patches is half the fun.

Is arsenal and the rest of the champion league teams licensed in this mode?

    Dunno.

All the presentation is right, the music 'n that, I think Arsenal are North London Reds or something.

Thing is mate, you can edit the teams name and players, you can't edit the gameplay.

    Do you see?
