    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

Worst case scenario is usually the correct one, remember any paper launches are worthless to me. Not interested until the actual product hits retail. I usually give products a couple of months after retail just incase there is any serious issues (like sandybridge mobos). I wasnt going to with BD but after this i suspect i may change my mind...

I'll wait for the result of the news conference before I get really mad then!

If it is being delayed then I'll have to decide whether to get an AM3 board for now or risk one of the new AM3+ boards for the nice new Phenom 955 I have sat here doing nothing.

The AM3+ motherboards don't seem to be priced any higher than their AM3 counterparts:

But will those pre order boards now be released if Bulldozer is being delayed?

I think I like the idea of an older 8 series board with an AM3+ socket more anyway so maybe not an issue but there's not too many of these around in stock at the moment.

They have SLI and AFAIK they have better power regulation(for whenever AMD release Bulldozer) out of the box.

However, the MSI 990FXA-GD65 which costs £115 has SLI and Crossfire and a pair of PCI-E 2.0 16X slots.

yah no sli. Basically I think it's getting to the stage that if you actually need a new build go for a sandy bridge, bit unfortunate but it's not exactly a bad chip! By the time bulldozer get's here we'll all be saying 3d transistor ivy bridge is only 1q away

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

I have summarised the recent leaks.

So basically we have three launch dates now:
    1.)July
    2.)August
    3.)September

On top of this some sources are only talking about B0 silicon, others about B0 and B1 silicon and others about B2 silicon.

So this can be one of five things:
    1.)Bulldozer is delayed
2.)Bulldozer is not delayed as all the slides regarding the launch dates were fake
3.)AMD is spreading disinformation. You can see this with their graphics cards before launch
4.)Intel is spreading disinformation to deflect attention from its delay of Ivy Bridge
5.)Journalists making up crap to get more hits for their websites

    2-3 months delay.... jeez

Might buy the chipset and drop a cheapo quad phenom in there, spread the cost a bit.

    Haha!

So no wonder July,August and September were release dates.

I officially call this an AMD fail!!

Funnily there is a picture of Trinity:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4393/c...ision-branding

According to Anandtech the B1 processors are easily hitting 3.8GHZ:

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/4389/c...o-motherboards

Supposedly at 3.8GHZ it did not give the performance AMD wanted!

So either Bulldozer needs very high frequencies to perform well or AMD is trying to target the lower end Sandy Bridge E processors.

It seems that Toms Hardware was correct as they talked about B0 processors only.
