In My opinion this has 2 registering descision and the broken servers, and lack of widescreen has completely messed up the games chances of bieng the best game this year. Unless the game once it starts working is truly unbelievable then these fatal flaws are unforgivable.

My little Tin case arrived today - thought the Ltd edition came with the soundtrack and making of DVD? ah well I guess not!

Activation sounds like a pain - good thing I have to wait to install it anyway as I'll be away from the PC for half the weekend

Oh I dunno. The broken servers are the biggest deal, and provided they can sort that out within the next few days it's probably not catastrophic. Nearly every big game release has some poo in the ceiling fan these days. But unless they have the servers working and a decent patch out in the next couple of days it will stop a lot of sales and lead to a lot of returns.

Compared to the Civ 4 launch, the flames are more widespread but far less intense. I thought thousands of people were about to bleed to death through their eyesockets judging by some of the posts on the Firaxis forums.

    Guess who published that game

I second that. I think the damage has already been done though, this game will probably go down as an all time classic, but it will forever be associated with this screwup and the corporate assholes that caused it. Talk about a publisher snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

If I were one of the development team that put a lot of work into this game, I'd be ****ing LIVID, let alone being a paying customer.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

    about this error problem anyway.

very, very strange. I was about to uninstall again so i put the disk in..

the menu popped up and i thought id try once more by clicking play. This time it worked and went to activation.. although i havnt tried it yet.

rekon its fine to go ahed or will the error cause game prolems leading to having to fix by reinstall?

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

Picked mine up this morning from my local independant. Weird slimline metal type case with Bioshock logo embossed on the front of the case. Will be giving it a run for tonight after I free up some space on my hard disc.

I think someone has now developed a widescreen patch (3rd party! nice work!) it was on the official bioshock website, also they have sorted the connection problems with registration server and released a FAQ to remove some of the rumours that have been going around:

http://www.2kgames.com/cultofrapture/home.html - currently second post down

A guy in front of me picked up a boxed version of Bioshock from Morrisons of all places for £22.45 - is that a decent price? I was almost tempted to go and get it myself!

I'm really glad I "have" the 360 version. Now all I've got to do is pick it up from the post office

Anyone installed this on Vista 64bit? I install but when it gets to the patching bit nothing happens? This an OS issue or a their end server fault?

Yeah, it does. It comes in a metal shoebox-sized box, with a plastic 'Daddy' too - not something I'd pay the extra for. The metal box is the normal one, but only until the (limited) stocks of these last, and I think that cardboard box will be they'll be after that.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

    no there are three versions:

    Normal
LTD Edition tin box (normal with embossed tin sleeve)
Collectors comes with figurine, DVD etc etc

As for the Vista 64 bit question yeh mine works, but its slightly broken i have have no shortcuts and the ones i create dont work. i can play it but i have to put the disk in for the menu to come up and click play. I think you have a server issue.

As for activation all seems ok now i think, mine worked when it ddnt earlier.

Did you just choose auto-install? For some reason this doesn't create short-cuts by default in Vista 64x. If you choose custom installation you get tickboxes to place shortcuts in the start menu and on the desktop.
