    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

Its starting to bug me. Just for kicks I decided to knock it down to 640x480 and everything on low and it is still crashing, locking up and stuttering. Arcadia is the worst level for it so far. Just done quite a long bit retreiving the rose and the vid sequence when you go to deliver it locks up and a hard reset has to be done.

Yeah, my system might not be the greatest but is powerful enough to run most things maxxed out in a half decent resolution but this is just taking the mick.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

One thing I do find is that when I load up the game I would often get what I perceived as a lock up and I would have to reboot. Last night this happened and I went to the john, came back and it had freed itself up again..

EDIT - btw the eponymous '-nointro' switch works for BioShock.

Tar. Tried this and even when installed I have the same issues. The patch seems to work wonders for those with AM2 CPUs but for those of us still living the 939 dream it hasn't helped. Well not me at least.

Ironically I thought I'd give the demo a bash on my media centre - AMD 2500+, 6600GT, 768MB PC2100 RAM and it ran lovely at 1024 with details set to medium and fancy lighting/shadows set to OFF. Unbelievable.

Icing on the cake is that I've just got the 360 version - having just got first plasmid I head out the room where the switch was broken and my Xbox decided to show me those 3 magic red lights

One day I'll find out what Bioshock is all about

(P.S. not supposed to be a rant, certainly a sense of humour in here somewhere)!

No, Inquirer full of it's usual 'accurate' reporting. There's barely a statement in that article that isn't wrong. It doesn't take away any rights, you can use AVG fine (as long as you update definitions, which you'd be mad not to as it does it daily anyway) you can install as many times as you like, just uninstall or use the revoke tool before your 6th time, they no longer argue between securom and 2k as to who should help, Securom does not phone home and activate - there is a one off activation on install, like HL2.

There's a lot more 'freedom' in Bioshocks install than most other games, which only license you to use on one computer at a time - Bioshock allows five simultaneous installations - one copy of the game is effectively five licenses. That's very generous.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

I've installed it 3 times so far with no problems at all. Installs due to having to use a restore point as a driver didn't install properly and it removed the links to play the game!

At times for me now it is running great and at other times not so good. I think the new drivers I mentioned out today apparently will help some. I've managed to get through to Hephastus now and going after Ryan. Rescued all the little sisters on every level so far. Noticed they arrive shortly after you have killed quite a few enemies other than that occasionally you can go through an entire level and not even bump into one. They all turned up at the end of the Fort Frolic (excellent level) so had to battle them one at a time in the corridors as they turned up. Just look for the screen shaking and the groans!

    Re: Bioshock Official Thread**Possible Spoilers**

Changed the name of the thread to include possible spoilers.

Whats everyone actually make of the game? Thread seems to just be going on about the protection system etc but no real comments on the game itself.

Personally I think it is as good as the hype, you can do everything in the way you feel best suits your play style. I am playing it upping my plasmids and weapon damage so I have good use of both especially if I am getting low on ammo.

I've been playing it all the way through with headphones just because the subtitles move too fast for the dialogue!

I think it's great too... Quite a vast game, hard to take it all in! And I find it quite tricky at times to find enough ammo and fend off the enemies.. But it's certainly very enjoyable, and different to the average futuristic shooter!

I've just got to Fort Frolic, taking a little break now

    Re: Bioshock Official Thread**Possible Spoilers**

It is pretty linear, yeah you can search about but it is a straightforward path if you just head towards where you are supposed to go. I'm going to head back to Arcadia shortly to have a more in depth look at the market. Noticed a few areas on that map are still greyed out.

Core level I thought was really good and the visuals are superb and consistent throughout. It has startled me a few times also, like when the doctor splicer is stood right behind you as you turn near the beginning after raking about his desk. It just seems to get better as you go, only downside for me at the min is that when you have the area selection screen it is showing that there is only 3 areas left to go.

Mind you I have give it some hammer over the past 2 days so far, see what ending I get then go through it again to see about getting the different one. Does anyone know what actually affects the endings? Is it whether you rescue the little sisters or harvest them? Or on the last level or so is there decisions you have to make which will affect the outcome?

    Re: Bioshock Official Thread**Possible Spoilers**

All I can say is the twist you get is a good one. Loved the nursery with the little sisters that you have rescued. Kind of felt like a bit of sanity regained in a world in turmoil. These last few levels are shaping up to be something special against your adversary. Going to be interesting to see how it pans and plays out.

I can't help but be hooked! It is really pulling me in now as the pacing is just right. As soon as I finish it first time round going to start it again a second time.
