I have a slight sound issue also. Thankfully I have sound but it crackles as if something is wrong with my speakers.

It is working great though on Vista 64Bit Ultimate. I have only just put it on for a few mins so far though and went into the lighthouse then had to go out last night so didn't get a chance to play it. Might get a half hour this morning before I get to work.

With regards to the install and no shortcuts. If you do custom install it asks if you want desktop and start menu at somepoint. It also put it in the games explorer on mine.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

Regards to my sound problems, apparently there are some issues with Vista, playing the game in XP compatability mode fixed things for me.

I get that problem if I turn EAX on. Try turning it off to see if that helps.

Anyone running into technical issues? I get periodical lock ups that need a hard boot - and then I have to reload the game to set my sound prefs again.

Yep - only one BSOD, but several 'reload games to get sound back' times. I'm running Vista 32-bit, and a X-FI/Alchemy. I've ALT-TAB a few time,to get ti the desktop. I don't know if that's got anything to do with it.

    Amazing game though.

    Re: **Bioshock Official Thread**

Bought the game yesterday - nothing but major issues. First of all it decided it wouldn't activate - perhaps this is what's meant by limited edition Was running as per sig below - after much messing around, I decided to try my old Venice single core 3000+ having read bad things about bioshock + X2- this cured the whole freezing menu requiring hard reset. However, now I get the loading splash screen and then a crash to desktop. This game is a waste of time at the moment - everytime one issue gets solved, another pops up.

I'm just waiting for an owner of a X800 or 9800 card to complaining that 'Bioshock needs SM3 and my gfx card only supports SM2 - argh'.

Meh - if you wanna play the games of today, you'll need a PC able of keeping up with the specs of today. End of.

I'm not even going to bother to start playing this until they release an official patch for the widescreen issue. What's that, someone's released a hack you say? Yeah... doesn't work with DX10 or Vista 64

For those having issues - I got mine off steam this morning (took 2 hours to download at 400kb/s) and since it's built into steam there are no activation annoyances. Roughly the equivilent of £32.

The steam version has exactly the same activation as non-steam version apparently. That you haven't had problem is just indicative that most people also won't have problems with the normal version
