The annoying thing about D2 was that it wiped your characters if you didn't use them for like a month or so. So i've got a couple of characters that i spent ages on, forgot about. only to log in and be told they've been deleted =P

Which is good in a way.

I don't fancy doing Act III again though. Sodding rainforest.

I installed it and got massacred in the Den of Evil first quest by a frost zombie. Damn that thing is tough! I was playing as a Necro with 2 Skeletons at the time.

Can't find my LoD disc unfortunately. Have to invest in a new copy. Trying to find something that allows you to up the resolution also, looks a bit clunky.

Just so you know - upping the resolution by altering ini file or the mpq's is counted as hacking the game and blizzard counts it as cheating/illegal.. any and all mods available with a modified res have been purged from the internet..

or so says my sister who has been playing D2 with LoD for at least 5 hours per day, every day since day 1 of it's release..

she's got about 3 large mods installed plus 1 she made herself and one each of every character to at least level 60 on every mod!! I think shes played it a bit too much..

After playing diablo 1 + hellfire for a good few years (also for 5 hours per day, every day) diablo 2 was a big letdown for me.. the dark moody atmosphere was lost, the game had just too much of an 'open' feeling for me, there was no sense of 'how far down does this dungeon go'.. diablo 3 looks like the game is returning to its roots of dark dungeon crawling with a sense of claustrophobia..

and Havok physics.. hooray, dont need to get Nvidia graphics to twirl things around the screen.

I still have the 3 x CD Diablo II now. I think I played it too late after the release. The low resolutions were so crap I couldn't get into it.

Recently Hellgate London got me in the mood for this type of game. A shame that the single Player campaign is so crappy.

So, will Sacred 2 be a good filler for Diablo fiends untill 2009?

You can run Diablo II at 800x600 then run it windowed, makes it look a bit better and means you can multitask easier

Lost a whole summer to diablo 2. leveled a barb to 90, with a few other chars at mid levels. Looking forward to #3 =]

I can't see them going sub-based. They don't need another cash cow and as long as projects like SC2 and D3 come close to paying for themselves I think they'll honestly put the gamer first for those titles.

Watching the D3 gameplay video yesterday (which i had to resort to getting via bittorrent instead of that stupid .exe that was obviously connecting to overloaded servers anyway) and it does look like a modern, graphically wonderful version of D2.
I think if they'd have made an MMO in the diablo universe it would be fighting for the same demographic market as WoW really.

Although i do agree with Kalniel that they dont need another cash cow, i think if they could think of a way to generate one they certainly would. From the looks of it though, this is clearly a single player offline-type game with multiplayer online options, just like D2. Which is exactly what i want, and i'll most certainly be buying it.

PS Was i wrong that despite all the graphical wonderfulness, i was more fascinated by the amulets etc that were being dropped ?

Yeah i know, even for 2001 it wasnt the very peak of modern gaming, and i think the 800 x 600 max sprite based system was regretted by many, but then who had a monitor of more than 1024 x 768 back then anyway?

As for judging by graphics, i play poker with my mates. Love the depth of it, but the graphics are rubbish
