Volly fire was genrally used as muskets were extreamly inacurate. Scatterd firing would have little impact on an enemy formation. (Both in terms of killing them and morale)
Volly fire would see a number of men go down at once, the French were known to be stopped a number of times by tripping and stalling over the men being killed in front of them.
The British used simthing slightly different called platoon fire, (i didn't know this, it's on the web page for the game) explained on wiki as a company dividing into 2 platoons each with 2 ranks firing alternatly. So you would get 4 quick seperate vollys in the time it takes you reload the musket once.

You can't have muskets more than 3 rows back firing as it's on a flat trajectory and it's unrealistic.
The screenshots i've seen don't really make it clear, the screens where the unit is in a thick formation with everyone firing have been firing up hill so it's not clear if they'll do that on flat ground.
So you've played it, what's the score?

Dual core 3.0Ghz? That must be to play it on very good specs though as that's ridiculously high for minimum requirements?
the system requirements are my requirements not the company's, they haven't determined minimum specs.

and yes, my computer runs the game at high graphics.

Looking at your computer i wouldn't have had any droughts that would run at high spec, but what's with the screen shots that seem to show Muskets firing a few rows back into some of their own men?

    Re: Empire: total War

thats simply CA being lazy i suppose

and the game runs great on intel i7, so far thats what we know... all of us 250 bet testers are asking the CA mods in the beta testing forums the same questions (some even has their signatures with that question): What are the system requirements? since alot of poeple are always asking us.

and their answers are: that is for you guys to find out when the game comes out

this is one hell of an irritating question for us!
so please, stop asking me about the sys specs as the next one i will slit his throat

    Re: Empire: total War

As usual I'm trying not to pre-order/buy a Total War game with bugs, exploits 'n all on release date, but I expect that I won't be able to stop myself buying ETW on the way home from work
Just wondering whether anyone is thinking about pre-ordering a Special Forces version from either Play, Game or Amazon? And if so, can they say why they think it's worth the extra dosh - I can't justify it - probably 'cos I'll probably only play as Great Britain.
Must get back to playing MIITW on my sick day, whilst camping by the front door, waiting for UPS to pick up my son's RROD'd Xbox

I've pre ordered the normal version from play, but it still comes with the unlock code for the ship (can't remember it's name) Doesn't say what else you get for special edition? But normal copy for me.

Even in Rome TW you get slow down in my system <<< when there's more that about 3500/4000 troops in the battle.

Play.com are normally pretty good, had a number of games day before release or on release day. Only ever had 2 games late from them.

I was just about to order a copy from Amazon when I noticed 'Platform: Windows Vista' I'm guessing a copy from Amazon would still work on xp?

So is there any definite date for its release? Game, amazon and play.com have varying dates.
