Yes I was getting that a lot last night, ok if you're just going to do SP just select offline mode after the first failed connection.

new way to sort of cheat, generate a random number or similar yourself, use that as a seed in creative mode, have a good explore to find any good stuff, then use that number to make a survival game and you'll know the map already.

Or just generate a random map, exit the game, load the map up in MCEdit and have a good look around.

It would depend on the mod that you are using to create the waypoints.

BTW, heads up to those of you playing on my server, as I use the bukkit wrapper and 1.8 hasn't been released yet, it will likely be a couple of days before I get 1.8 up and running on the server. I can of course install vanilla 1.8 but nothing will be protected and the server will be completely open... unless I use the built in whitelist.

Anyhow, just thought I would update you guys so you don't get your knickers in a twist when 1.8 is released and the server isn't upgraded. If you wanna see what I'm on about check out the official forums, although mods are closing whine threads pretty quickly now!

P.S. If you update your client to 1.8 I don't think you'll be able to carry on playing on the 1.7 server. Not 100% sure about that though.

Personally I'd not bother updating the server until 1.8 is actually out, this is still the pre-release 1.8 so it's as buggy as heck, the fact that using a furnace crashes the client makes it rather unplayable (I hope the furnace bug doesn't effect the server otherwise it would be down more often than up.

I won't be updating anything until it's confirmed, I was on about using the 1.8 release (not pre-release) until Bukkit get their wrapper updated.

1.8 is officially out, lots of bugs fixed. Server is still running 1.7.3 as Bukkit has not been completed yet, although they have advised that they are a third of the way through the 3rd stage of updating it, and they started the 3rd stage about 2 hours ago.

So it is possible that I may be able to update the server tonight. I will run a new map alongside the old one so people can still visit it if they want, I will add a plugin that allows you to switch between the different worlds.

I may take the server down to do this, if I do I will try and give you notice.

7626050251719279572 is a good seed I've found. Plenty of epic scenery and a village not too far from the spawn. There's also a big rock formation that, from the village, looks like a huge landed spaceship

Well at least it means I can still play Dead Island before minecraft sucks me back in.

I spotted that the minecraft website was down today and wondered if that was sue to 1.8 release.
I do hope the abandoned mines are not so massive as they where in pre-release
